Tom M.'s Bio

Life long fan of ND and the Green Bay Packers growing up in Brooklyn and Philadelphia. As a graduate of a subdivision college and a member of the football team (free safety-the best strategy position: Yes I am biased) I now reside in the midwest working as a senior manager for a fortune 500 corp. When in the US, Saturday and Sunday during the season, I will be found following my beloved sport, football. I also enjoy golf and have an 11 handicap.

  1. good info, thanks. it's still a weakness, but maybe a less serious one than i thought.

  2. It's over... now it's time for grades! I put a lot of time into a team-by-team slideshow and would love your thoughts...

  3. I'd go along with everything you said, but I don't see him making that transition in weight, playing level (NCAA to NFL), and responsibilities this year. Brown could have been had without a trade and would have only needed to make two of those three, plus he was higher rated...by everyone but the league! Can't believe he fell to mid-second when so many so-called experts had him top half of the first!
As for the FB, you often take the top players for need in the second half of day two, so I don't think it's a change of philosophy.

  4. I was thrilled we got Raji and thought we got most of other needs filled betwen the two days. But while I was happy to see TT willing to trade up, I don't see Matthews as fitting our needs. Unless he can put on about 20 pounds, he will not be big enough to handle the OLB duties, and we have plenty of ILBs—Barnett, Hawk, Chillar, Bishop, and in my mind, Poppinga is likewise only the size for the inside. And I also am puzzled by the drafting of a safety when we already have four starting quality safeties (Collins, Bigby, Rouse, and Smith who we inexplicably signed in free agency) plus Charlie Pepprah, a young and solid reserve.

But that will be covered in an article soon, and overall, it was a good draft. Gives me a distraction from the poor play of my Sharks in the NHL playoffs.

  5. Thanks for reading my previous mock drafts; as promised, my final look at it is now available.

  6. Well...I haven't been in there for a few months, but I've lived in Islington and Earl's Court...like I said, really nice article :)

  7. Packers Community Leaders have a Packers daft pick contest going. Here are the details:

  8. not a maybin fan, just was best available to me, but glad it got you writing! i'll look when i have time.

  9. Check out my list of the top 10 NFL Draft steals in NFL history. Let me know what you think.

  10. Two thoughts.

    A) For most teams this was too much to give up. But in the context of how poorly Jerry Angelo handles first round picks, are we really giving much up? We just won't have two overpaid losers on the roster. Angelo dominates the 2nd-7th, but has never been a good first round drafter. So on that end, I'm relatively OK with it.

    B) On the other end of the spectrum, Denver evaluates talent SO well (Eddie Royal?). This could very well become a Herschel Walker-to-Minnesota deal that catapults Denver's future.

In any event, with no disrespect to Derrek Rose, this is the biggest day in Chicago Sports since the Sox won the World Series.

  11. Ready? I've done it. i've finally thrown down and decided to micro-manage Jerry Angelo. I'd love your feedback as a Bears' fan.

  12. You've read my last few mock drafts, now try my take on potential draft day deals on for size:

    I'd love your thoughts!
