I am a second year journalism student in Ontario, Canada with a passion for sports and writing.

I wanted to make journalism my career since I was nine years old when I watched TSN and saw them talking about sports, all day, every day - I wanted to do that too, how much better could talking about sports all day get boring?

But as I grew up, my love for writing grew and my view of being on television freaked me out - I always hated the camera...so with both loves growing more and more each year, I decided in grade seven, two years before I entered high school that I wanted to do this as a career - and become a sports journalist.
Well, it does not seem to be working the way I would like it to be, as my university does not have a specific sports journalism course or program...but I am well on my way to being a journalist.

My passion for sports is not limited to just one sport, but it is limited to one team - the Montreal Canadiens. My friends would say I am obessed, I disagree, as I am just as passionate about the Habs as the next Candiens fan is.

Saku Koivu is my favourite player, even though there are so many to choose from and so many moments that are favourites...but watching Koivu battle cancer and come back and play in the playoffs - just seeing those photos bring shivers to my spine because he definately lives up to the title of Caption Courageous.

    Hey Katie,

Do I need to spell out "seventh" even though the actual award is labeled/named "Boston Bruins 7th Player Award"?

Katie, thanks for the edit. my crack about Pens fans stuffing the ballot box was because of the injured Penguin defenders leading in voting.

Thank you Katie, sounds like some don't agree with that line of thinking to take the contractions out! I should know better, every time I write in Word and then do a document correction check...guess what is booted out. Thanks agian. Much appracited. My game has always been speaking communications so what I write is for my eyes only, but I have always wanted to see if I could write, now I have found a place a some friends to help.

I appreciated the edit but I disagree on contractions slowing the flow. At least until I can see some research that shows me wrong ;)

I agree I could use less, but contractions are how we speak. Why shouldn't it be how we write and read?
