Pele not a huge soccer fan so Pele rings a bell more.
Federer or Sampras?

Sampras just plain better all a round
Tiger or Nicklaus?

Nicklaus so far Tiger has had a few rough spots and dosent embrace the game as much as Nicklaus it seems like business to Tiger more than a passion
Petty or Earnhardt?

Petty Earnhardt was and excellent racer but make a few rule changes and he would be mediocre in todays racing world
