Thomas's Bio

It all started on a message board. Actually I've had a frustrated writer inside me for years.

Celtic fan. UConn fan (and alma mater). I saw Bill Russell play in his later years.

As a small child, even then, mentally juxtaposing the change from the platonic late 50's to the chaotic, dynamic cultural changes of the sixties was a wild ride. Sports was a big part of it then as it is now. As with songs, you marked periods of your life with certain sports events.

Me? A doer of many things. renaissance man with a small 'r'. I wish I had time to do and read much more than I do. Something called work gets in the way every day. Don't ask. I won't tell.

I write better than I played. I think better than I write. But I played a lot. I mean basketball on local school courts. Dead of winter. Heat of summer. Wearing out shoes. Constant blisters. Huge blisters. The games were with guys who were all on the high school team. My message board moniker 'tenaciousT' came from the one thing I did well - play defense. No one wanted me to guard them. I knew I improved when I went from being the last guy picked when sides were chosen, up to 3rd to last. Little victories. Loved the game then. Still do.

  1. Wow, how'd you come across it!

I got an internship for amNewYork last winter primarily because of my work on the Bleacherreport. I've had a few articles printed, but most of the work was copy/editing and stuff.

But the internship ended and I've stayed aboard as a freelancer. The Pierce article was my 3rd "paid" article for the newspaper.

Thanks for reading, I'm glad your last article not nothing but the positive support it deserved :)

  2. Hey Thomas,

I just wanted to let you know that Bleacher Report has launched out of beta with an updated look and feel and some great new features. Check out the "Game On" link in the header to find out more.

Next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements—and it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.

Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend Thomas!

    Zander

  3. Hey Dave,

I'm a little busy at the moment but it looks like a good article. I can check it out over the week-end.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

    peace,
    T

  4. Not sure whether or not you saw this article...makes a pretty reasonable point I think:

  5. Hey Dave,

Sorry to take so long to respond.

Still think Tony's lost a step?

The problem with Tony is his confidence after that big injury. It is mostly in his head now. The kid can play.

I'll take this team against all comers now - especially in a longer series. Yes, I would like help with another big. Perkins misses too many easy ones. His defense is excellent tough. We could one long guy with a few basic moves.

    Thanks Dave,

    Tom

  6. From watching the game last night, Tony Allen looks like he's lost a step. I think it's also pretty clear that you guys need to pick up another competent big man for the playoffs...just not enough depth in the front court right now to get through a 7 game series against a San Antonio or Dallas. What are thoughts thus far?

  7. These guys are so motivated. You never know until you see the product, but you've gotta be so excited...

  8. Thanks Dave.

That's a good idea. It will happen.

    Tom

  9. Good to see you on the site. You might want to upload a picture of your blog for exposure purposes...just a thought.

An off-season of all off-seasons for you guys...wow.

  10. Yeah, it takes a bit of time to get used to, but the layout is beautiful. It looks so much more professional than the old site, especially as now we can get great photos to go with the articles.

And I'd like to think interesting readers are better than boring ones :)

  11. Thanks Erick.

I'm still getting the feel of things here, but I like it. You seem to have a good core group of writers and some 'interesting' readers.

I'm really liking the new site. Much better.

    regards,
    Tom
