The Heisman Trophy isn't the same as it use to be. What are the faults and what can be done in order to get the bronze figurine back to where it once was?

Don't be shy!

Did you read the Rich Rodriguez article in the latest SI? Rather positive and fair, in my opinion.

You might have something with your theory of the Free Press having an anti-Michigan bias. I've tried defending that but then I saw their preview of Michigan/Western Michigan where Snyder flat out predicts a WMU victory over Michigan.

Sure, its possible, but very unlikely, and they are the only major publication picking WMU tomorrow. very suspect coming from the hometown newspaper.

I'm pretty disappointed.

Hey,

Just out of curiosity (I wasn't gonna contradict you in front of that suckeye idiot), where did you see that Pat White was a two star? Rivals has him has a three star. I agree with you, so I wasn't going to argue with you on there, but I'd like to see where you got that information (purely for curiosity purposes).

Sorry Daryl...I'm trying to see it but I really can't. Are you talking about something happening earlier in that highlight (as in extended from the link) because on that play Hossa's stick is on the ground when Dupuis' stick comes through the left side, and is broken coming out of the right.

Maybe I'm just missing something?

BT

Ps. I'm not a Wings fan...I have no vested interest in who wins this series. My team was declared out of it since November :)

Thanks for the post and thanks for commenting on my article!

Actually, I think Flyers fans have it the worst in Pittsburgh. I'm an Eagles fan so I'm always mistaken for also being a Flyers fan (the Richards shirt doesnt help, I'm sure).

There aren't many other Rangers fans in Pittsburgh though, so I feel it a little more than Flyers fans do.

You've posted several insightful comments in the last couple of weeks. I particularly liked your analysis of the possessions in last year's WVU-Pitt game. Keep it up; Bleacher Report needs more reasoned discourse.

Conrad...thanks for your post. Yes I saw the UL game in which both White and Slaton amazed everyone. But it wasn't the first time White played in a game. He played in just about every other game, when the games mattered, and did not do an outstanding job. Maybe he needed some time to get going. I don't know. But it wasn't as though he didn't have a shot before that. If White played earlier on like he did against UL he might have played earlier and more often.

As far as Gwaltney goes, he didn't last because he didn't go to school, but he didn't play because he was injured. When he was in there he was averaging around 6yds per carry and doing a great job. He was a 5* recruit and one of the best RBs coming out of HS. He would have started in front of Slaton at any school for any coach anywhere. WVU also had another RB that rushed for over 1,000yds the previous year so it stands to reason why Slaton would be third string going into the season.

As far as RR's offense and needing a mobile QB...you are only half right. Go back and look at RR's offense at Glenville St, Tulane, and Clemson. They had QBs that were somewhat mobile but could throw. Their QBs didn't need to be fast, but the defense had to respect them enough to know they would and could run the ball. The QB also had to be able to throw the ball with accuracy.Bednarik fit that mold to some extent. He was a proven better passer than White, but obviously couldn't run like White. During the UL game, WVU actually changed their offensive philosphy to match the talents of White and Slaton. That offense they ran in the 4th was different than any other offense they ran previously. So much for saying RR doesn't make adjustments.

RR is egotistcal and does have a big head. But so do most of the good coaches. He very well could be run out of Mich in 2 years....I just don't see it happening. I just hope you are around after that two years to see what conspires.

Dude,

Did you not read my last article on the state of where the football program is headed. As for your "insightful" comment let me preach on it. First Gwaltney didn't last because he wouldn't go to class. As for Pat not getting the offense did you miss his performance in the Lousiville triple overtime game when he finally got the job. Not to mention Steve Slaton scoring 6 count them 6 touchdowns in that game, a game in which Pat and Steve inspired a comeback from 17 points down with only 10 minutes to play. It is time you took off the I Love Rich glasses and see him as he is. An egotisticall maniac who will be run out of Michigan faster than Toyota. And finally Adam Bednarik couldn't out run half the offensive lineman which as we now know you need a qb who can run.
