All Time Sports Moment
Meeting Tony Gwynn for the first time, turns out my idol was as great as I dreamed.
-
Most Memorable Game Attended
Too many to count, but the one I remember most was watching Benito Santiago throw 5 runners out from his knees.
-
Most Unbreakable Sports Record
511 wins by Cy Young? It's impossible to break that.
-
Ruth or Mays?
I should say Mays because of defensive, but the year Ruth hit 60 he had more home runs than every TEAM in the NL.
-
Unitas or Montana?
Unitas, called his own plays, revolutionized the position, just amazing.
-
Jordan or Russell?
Jordan, the rings for Russell were amazing, but look at that team, he had like 6 HOF. Jordan had one
-
Gretzky or Orr?
Gretzky? We don't really have ice in Cali.
-
Pele or Maradona?
Pele, easily. Brought soccer to the US, Maradona's most famous play was a blown call.
-
Federer or Sampras?
Sampras, tougher competition, much more scrutiny, played while balding, what can I say.
-
Tiger or Nicklaus?
Nicklaus, more competition, Tiger's obviouslly amazing, but is that much better that everyone else, or just lacking competition?
-
Petty or Earnhardt?
I have no opinion on NASCAR what so ever.
-
Schumacher or Senna?
Let me rephrase, I have no opinion on racing what so ever.
-
Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?
Pac 10, great in basketball solid in football, and I'll always love USC.

After a brief lay-off (no, not burn out, thank you Tim Pollock), here is my latest about creating a new team from this year's crop of unrestricted free agents. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Attention Community Leader,
If you are getting this message, it's for one of a few reasons. Earlier this week I sent out a mass e-mail to all CL's. If you did not get this message, please post on my board and let me know. You either A)haven't checked your e-mail, B)just haven't replied or C)changed your e-mail from the last time I was updated, D) or something really odd happened to where you didn't get it (I've double and triple checked my names and e-mails, while possible, not sure how likely).
If you are not planning on returning as a Community Leader this 2009 season, it's important that you let me know. Either way, returning or not, either reply to my e-mail or post on my board. Spring Training is inching ever so-close, and it's important we know who is in and who's not so we can get the ball rolling.
If you do not reply to my e-mail or post a message on my board rather soon, I'm going to assume (provided there is a reason for an extended absence) that you no longer have the time and or desire to be a CL or you've left the site completely.
Thanks
-Nino

Just a note to all community leaders. I'm trying to collect e-mails. I have most of them from when we did the awards, but If it's changed since then, or you are new to the team, make sure we're cool on the e-mail.
With Free Agency starting tomorrow, we should probably be thinking offseason plans. I encourage everyone to put up some sort of preview for their own team. Highlight some needs, maybe look at who your team has on the market, or potential targets. If enough people get in on it, I'll post a collective article to highlight everyone's work.
If your a new community leader, welcome aboard. If you've been around, make sure you go around, become a fan of some of the other CL's and support each other. We're a team here!
-Nino
Like I said yesterday, good on your e-mail thanks to Rory. So just keep it up and welcome to the team Rob.

Haha Promoted.. Yeah I gotcha Rob.
Just keep doing what your doing man. Try and drum up interest in the Nationals section, get people to comment, comment on articles, stuff like that. If there's ever anything you'd like me to look at or someone you want me to give an encouraging word to, let me know.. Stuff like that. As the season gets closer we'll probably do something community leader-wide, but right now just enjoying the offseason as it goes.
Congrats man, looking forward to seeing more stuff from ya.

Rob-
Great piece, and I agree with you on everything here.
Not only are Holliday and Tex going to be too expensive, but there's no way in hell they want to play on the Nats right now. These are two veterans who I expect to go after money, but also go to a team that has a chance in the near future.
As for Dunn, I agree he'd be the most realistic FA pickup for the Nats, but I still wouldn't do it. There's nobody to get on base in front of him, and his defense is really sub-par. I see him landing on an A.L. team where he can platoon at DH/1B, think Giambi on this one.
As for Burnett, that would be an awful signing. That Nats need way more than one ace to contend. The money Burnett is going to demand is way over the Nats' heads, and I can see him mailing it in once he signed a huge contract for a bad team.
Awesome article.
Check your e-mail later today, you've earned it!
