Sports fan; football nut; Manchester United season ticket holder.
Brought up on a diet of Real Madrid, United and Hungary in the 50s. Dad gave me the gift of loving proper football, not kick and rush. Met the Busby babes in 56; got all their autographs and Sir Matt. Blubbed at the 6 o'clock news the night they died.

Happy to write about anything I really know about. Try always to be objective and factual in both articles and comments - never rant.
Main loves: football; cricket; golf, but love watching many live sports.

cfuchs,nsubotic,jmartinez/jgarcia/jrodwell,skagawa,ehazard,jkhunterlaar and the final 2 nclyne and npowell
loan out fabio, keane brothers and tunicliffe
ease out giggs, scholes, rio and maybe and hopefully not fletcher, vidic and park
get rid off pogba
get value for berbatov,owen,kuzack,macheda
in all investing 100m pounds net on these transfers is needed....

do we need a tal target man yes;hunterlaar
OK I see what you mean now. Think about the reader as a man on his 10-minute coffee break, not a literature professor critiquing an anthology.
I did read your article on SAF and I thought you flushed out a few points that even EPL managers wouldn't have contemplated. I'm about to dive into your Cantona piece (personally I think it should be Scholes or Giggs, but let's see what I think in about 15 minutes eh?)
Although not strictly related, I would like to hear your thoughts on why you think SAF has not instituted a "hard-pressing" mentality at United. It is clearly the way football is evolving, with 2 of 4 Champions League finalists being hard-pressing Spanish teams (Real, Barca) and 3 of 4 Europa League teams (Bilbao, Valencia, Atletico) being...wait for it...hard-pressing Spanish teams! Not to mention Bayern, who put plenty of pressure on Real in that 1st leg (though it remains to be seen if they can replicate that at the Bernabeu).
So with the tides of footballing styles across Europe changing so clearly, why has SAF not followed suit? I have a few thoughts of my own, but I'd like to hear what you have to say.
I should note that I made my comment after 12 hours of no sleep, no food, and a blood draw. I realize that I said some pretty dumb stuff there, so I removed the comment.
I did freely admit to being ignorant of United's financial standing in a previous comment though. I had read an article that stated that there as an increase in revenue but they didn't mention posting a profit. I figured it to be misleading language. I am not a fan of the PL or United at all, so I didn't press it because frankly I don't care.
My comments on assets were grossly taken out of context by a few. Too bad. I didn't want to go in depth.
I still think that Barcelona and Madrid however are in a bad situation financially. I can't find it, but there was an article which gave a really good case as to the negative effects those two clubs have on the Spanish and European economy as a whole.
For the record, yes, I have passed the exams I have taken thus far. I will say that Macro is far more interesting than Micro. ;)
Terry your articles are always interesting to read. The other Manchester United columnists could learn a few things from you.
Thanks a lot for the feedback Terry. I took my time comparing your critique with a few of my articles (hence the late response). I see exactly what you mean by "wordy" and "wading through porridge". Sentences with five verbs, each with their own adverb, are normally reserved for the third circle of hell and I'll try and cut it out.
However, I only vaguely understand what you mean by "trying too hard". I feel like it's a theme in my daily life too so it came as no surprise to hear the comment about my writing. Could you point out an example, because it'd be awesome to know the tumour I need to cut out?
Once again, thanks so much for taking the time to do this. This may be an over-inflated opinion of my writing, but I consider myself one of the better writers on B/R (feel free to debunk that myth, by the way) and it's rare that I find a writer to whom I willingly turn for advice. So I really appreciate everything.
Cheers
Hi Terry, I recently read your article on not-so-obvious financial position of United. You explained the situation in simple terms, but very clearly. I liked the article then and, when the same friend forwarded me a second article by you (United Squad Size), I decided to "Favourite" you on here. Having read a bit more about your profile, it's pretty clear why you come across so knowledgeable and well-written.
I used to be an FC on here, but got disillusioned at the assignments I was required to complete and stopped writing a few months ago. I wonder if you could throw a few pointers my way about how you decide what to write and anything I could work on within my articles. If you do have the time, here is a sample:

I'd really appreciate any pointers. Once again, keep the words flowing.

Pleeeeez write an article for every man utd match. Topic must be player vs player
I've removed my comment from your article because Will asked me to.
If you really think that the quality of the article is what garnered 14000 reads then there's nothing more to say, just shows you don't really know how B/R works.
