Evaluating Tigers Starting Rotation for 2013
December 29, 2012
Born and raised in Michigan. Graduated from Andrews University in 2008 with a BS degree in secondary education, Social studies. I currently reside in Lincoln Nebraska. I'm a diehard fan of the state of Michigan, and Detroit sports. My favorite time of the year is the offseason :) Recently joined Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (http://ibwaa.com/).
I definitely think Porcello will be dealt, but who do the Tigers get from AZ? Unless the Tigers get a good offer from someone they will go into spring train and let Porcello and Smyly compete for the fifth spot and put whoever doesn't start in the 'pen and use them in long relief until someone in the rotation gets hurt. Remember the reason the Tigers traded for Sanchez was because of the injury suffered by Smyly.
Got him back. Now what avenue does Dombrowski take with Smyly and Porcello? I would certainly imagine that Porcello will pitch for maybe Arizona next season.
Don't have to do it consistently, you can write as you feel the desire. I signed up with Bleacher over four years ago, so I'm not sure what they have changed in the sign up process, but I believe all you have to do is sign up to write.
How hard is it to become a writer on here? I would like to write an occasional article, but do not have the time to do it consistently.

Well one interesting thing about Infante is he can play short...in fact he's logged 225 games at short. It is definitely something to keep an eye on. I wouldn't call Kobernus an exceptional fielder, but he has the potential (.982 and .976 the last two years). What sticks out is the speed, 83% success rate stealing bases (95 out of 114 attempts) the last two years.
Couple of interesting moves made today. I had read that Dombrowski was interested in a couple players involved in the rule 5, but not to the level of making deals for them whe someone else got them. I am really interested in the 2B. He has great speed and hit .282 each of his last two seasons. Furthermore, I read a scouting report in him that stated his speed was plus speed, but that his fielding was exceptional. I like that. As well he has a little power. He has good enough size for that to develope more though. I see Infante being a guy that parts after his contract expires at the conclussion of this season. Maybe an article about those guys and the catcher out of Pitt would be cool.
Thanks Shawn, I love the off-season, probably my favorite time of the year.
Crazy how much more exciting soprts get in the off-season huh?
