Kevin's Bio

My name is Kevin Miller, I am a 15 year old sports enthusiast. I live in Olathe, Kansas with my family (mom, dad, 2 brothers-Andy and Greg) and my dog Cooper. I go to Pioneer Trail Junior High School where i play football and used to play basketball, but I'm currently only lifting weights for football (God gave me talents in my second favorite sport football, as basketball has always been my true love). But i still play football and love it. I'm an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, and i follow the Kansas City Brigade AFL team some as well, but my real love is University of Kansas Basketball. I picked up on KU when i was very young, but only started following KU sports very, very closely about two years ago. I am not and have never been a fair weather fan, I'm a Jayhawk through and through and i have been for my whole life. I hope to go to KU and maybe study law or journalism. That's a bit about me, I'm always open to ways i can improve, and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism from my peers. Good luck to all in writing memorable pieces, I'll be reading, and i hope you'll read mine.

  1. Hey Kevin,

I just wanted to let you know that Bleacher Report has launched out of beta with an updated look and feel and some great new features. Check out the "Game On" link in the header to find out more.

Next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements—and it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.

Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend Kevin!

    Zander

  2. Hi Kevin -
Just be more careful about what you write. That's all.

Also, don't worry too much about what people write in the comments section. There are a lot of nitwits that post comments (see the first comment in my last article, for example). However, some people do try to give thoughtful analysis (see the second comment in the same article). It's not worth responding to the former group - most are cowards hiding behind some screen name.

Finally, as a fellow college basketball writer - let me suggest a website that will open your eyes if you let it. kenpom.com has every basketball statistic you would every need. The statistic are not the ones you see quoted by the know-nothings on Sportscenter, they are much more in-depth and are much better indicators of performance. Your jayhawks are still #1 despite the loss. Take a look.

  3. Hi Kevin -
Yes, you're only 15, but you need to be careful about what you write. It's not exactly clear from what you wrote, but it appears that you're attributing certain qualities about Michael Beasley and Bill Walker apply to all African-Americans, which simply isn't the case. It can be construed as racist and bigoted - I definitely found it offensive. I'm not sure of your personal politics will be - you're only 15, believe it or not you have yet to form them yet, you'll know when you're in your early 20s - but still there's no room for this type of commentary on this website.

    - Ben

  4. Hey man, your writing isnt bad(esp for a 15 yr. old) just make sure that when you write something that will be posted for everyone to scrutinize, you read it over several times and think critically about what the words really say/mean. I dont know if you hold prejudice or not but your article sends that message wether you inteneded it to or not. Be careful and God bless.
