All Time Sports Moment

Bob Beamon's long jump in the Olympics. The official measuring device wasn't long enough to record his jump! When he realized what he had done, he collapsed, with his head in his hands. Otherworldly. *////* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN9rgezLM3Y&feature=related. *////* Second would be Reggie Jackson's home run in the 1971 All-Star game in Detroit. The home run comes at 3:41. *////* http://youtube.com/watch?v=6NoUYmb4o2g *////* This clip doesn't show the ball after the hit, but I recall it being picked up by the second baseman! This report estimates the hit at 532 feet. *///* http://www.hittrackeronline.com/historic.php?id=1971_9

  1. O.K. Rick - you win. The argument is over.

But still, Ty Cobb was not a racist, ;).

  2. Wow! I noticed that you are quiet critical in your reviews of the writers in the Bleachers, but you have not completed any work on your own.

It seems that you love to try and prove that Cobb was a racist. But the point that you have missed is that you have not proved or provided any evidence to us that Cobb was a racist.

There is no evidence that Cobb was a racist. A scrappy fellow for sure, but not a racist. And if you want to continue to use the excuse "because of the era in which he lived - not everybody was a racist during that Cobb's time. And if so, then why don't you say Babe Ruth was a racist. Hank Aaron, himself, said there is no pictures of Babe Ruth with any colored children.

If you believe this, it could only represent your complete mentality on race relations and maybe it is revealing a part of yourself you can no longer run from.

Cobb never has nor will you ever find any admission on Cobb's part of being a racist and he definitely will never apologize for being a racist because he never believed himself such in the first place.

You should be proud of Cobb, being from Augusta, a place where Cobb lived and became associated with most of the citizenry there. Instead of living to belittle his accomplishmenhts, you should look for ways to commemorate his life works.

I have plenty friends there who I am in constant contact with who love and respect Mr. Cobb. What did he ever do to you, sir?

Augusta just released a video on the TY COBB Museum today. I guess you will ask Augusta to boycott the station, huh.

I am asking you to research the facts and put down these books that are trying to make a living off of Cobb's legacy. You just might find comfort in what he stood for as a human being.

    Wishing you well always!
