Bobby's Bio

Bobby Russell was born and raised in Southern California, and is currently attending UC Santa Barbara. He works in the athletic department at UCSB, handling online media, print media, and publications for the cross country and track & field teams.

He is a hockey fan who follows the NHL very closely. Due to the recent scheduling quirks of the NHL, most of his knowledge is concentrated on the teams in the Western Conference. He has also read the 2005 Collective Bargaining Agreement from cover to cover. He found about 20 percent of it comprehensible.

His favorite team is the Anaheim Ducks, and they are the only team that he follows religiously. Some of his other favorites are Manchester United, Los Angeles Galaxy, any UCSB team, and the Los Angeles Orange County Ventura Angels of the Greater Inland Empire.

  3. Hey I wrote an article on the current state of NHL writers on Bleacher Report and I think it's an important read to members of the community. Take a look when you get a chance. Thanks.

  4. Hey Bobby,

Just checking in to see how things are going. How have you been? How about the Ducks skid of late?

  5. The Stars are right on the heels of the Ducks...worried yet?

  6. You write often enough to keep the Ducks section up to date, that's all I can ask. Anyway, the UC paper stuff should come first.

  7. Thought you'd like this link about the salaries:

  8. Bobby, just wanted to comment your doing great work for the Ducks! Your really filling the mold of a Community Leader well...keep up the great work.

  9. Hey Bobby,

I just wanted to comment on the interesting work you've brought to BR so far. Because I'm not exactly living in SoCal (Yay Southwestern Ontario!) your opinions on the Ducks and your different ideas (namely the Rob Niedermayer article) have really gotten me thinking about the team.

Good work so far Bobby, keep it up!

  10. No worries, it's always nice to work with a pro.

  11. Hey Bobby,

Welcome to Bleacher Report. I like your first article, especially myself being the former Anaheim Ducks Community Leader. Don't ask why I now handle the Stars, its a long story. Anyway, point is the Ducks section here needs another CL. The search has been on since probably July or August to find a new one and i wanted to extend the position to you (once you get more experience on the site). You clearly have the knowledge and the ability of strong writing, your passion is clearly the Ducks and you're a questioning kind of fan.

My first article on the Ducks was about questioning the trade of Andy Mac...so the comparison of our intro articles is funny. Contact me via my profile, or e-mail at karmer@bleacherreport.com and I can explain the requirements of a CL, your interest level in the position and how you can help put the Ducks section back on the map on Bleacher Report.

    Keep up the great writing!
