You seem to think not trying would be skating at half speed. At what point (the fifth season in a row?) is it no longer them being unlucky but their fault? I have been saying it all spring and it came to pass—players, coaches, and broadcasters have all said that they were being outworked.
I do not see how you can say a team that is blown out 4-0, never makes changes like going to the net, has long lapses where they suddenly go from being dominant to being dominated, and loses almost every race for every loose puck even though they are clearly a more skilled team. That is not giving it all you have and thus not trying or caring enough.
Fortunately, I am confident that Doug Wilson will see this pattern for what it is.
