Max, first off, don't get discouraged! Especially here on BR, you might write some articles that get no response - zero comments, few reads. Sure, having a catchy headline and picture helps, as well as building your profile in the community, but sometimes that is just the way it goes. And then, all of a sudden, you'll have an article that explodes and you wonder why. There can be no rhyme or reason sometimes for it. I've written what I thought to be my best pieces and they've gone virtually unnoticed. And some of the pieces that have generated the most response may not have been my best work. So, as I say, don't get down, especially since some of the comments can get rough occasionally - there are some stupid people out there who only comment because they are miserable. Don't let them bring you down to their level, shouting matches have no place here, they will only damage your reputation. In the meantime, get involved - write, comment, as you have been doing, and edit if you want, and offer to help in other ways. Contact other senior writers / BR staff and ask if you can get more involved. You can build a name for yourself by participating in roundtables and things like that. Above all, always write well, double check your spelling and accuracy - nothing damages your rep faster than a poorly written item. And do your research - if you write about a free agent you want your team to sign, only to have someone comment that he is not a free agnet...well, that's not good. People won't believe you next time. Best of luck.
Hey Max, welcome to BR! I am the Cubs community leader, but love all sports, mainly baseball. If you need any help, just let me know by leaving a message on my Bulletin Board or via my e-mail (which you can find in my profile). I thought your first article was very promising, look forward to more. Keep up the good work!
