  6. Hey Tyler,

The All Star game isn't until July, but if it were to happen now, who would the starters be? A lot could change between now and then, but I'd like to recognize some of the top performers in the early goings. I'd love to hear your opinion on my choices, thanks a lot.

  8. Hey Tyler,

Ryan Zimmerman’s hit streak halted at 30 games last night. As one streak ends, another is admired. Read about how Joe DiMaggio forever redefined ’56,’ and how his feat may never be broken. It is a record that thankfully cannot be broken through steroid use, and represents all that was once right in a game that has since gone so wrong.

    Thanks in advance!

  11. Tyler,
I am sending some questions to the top Cubs writers in an attempt to do an April "state of the Cubs" address. I'd appreciate it if you would participate. If you agree, please send answers, along with any explanation/rationale to my e-mail address @ rememberthecoop@yahoo.com by Wednesday, May 6th.

Thanks and here are the questions.

    1. Who is the April MVP of the Cubs and why?

    2. Who is the most disappointing Cub so far and why?

    3. What is the top area of need for the Cubs right now (starting pitching, relief pitching, hitting, defense)?

    4. What changes, if any, would you make at this time? At the trade deadline?

    5. Give me your impressions of GM Jim Hendry (in how he assembled this club) and the job that manager Lou Piniella is doing

    6. Your prediction for the season (win the division, win one round of playoffs, go to World Series, win World Series, not make the playoffs).

    Bob

  12. Hey Tyler,

Lou Gehrig has somehow been forgotten amongst the game’s immortals, even though he was possibly even more of a reason for the success of Ruth’s 1927 Yankees. Read about the quiet, forgotten leader of “Murderer’s Row,” Henry Lou Gehrig.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/167924-lou-gehrig-remembering-the-quiet-forgotten-leader-of-murderers-row?just_published=1

    Thanks in advance!

  13. Tyler-
My latest article is a bit personal- seeing Wrigley Field through new eyes. Check it out when you have a chance. Thanks

  14. Tyler, we certainly need bullpen help but it's going to have to come from within and our best bet may be Chad Fox, though I almost hate to see him again. If his arm doesn't fall off, he has experience and is pitching well at Iowa right now. Another guy looking good is Jason Waddell.

But the time to improve the pen really was in the winter and that's one area where Jim Hendry didn't really do us any favors. Gregg is serviceable but will drive you crazy because he doesn't really have an out pitch. And why we didn't go out and get a lefty is puzzling since there were a few out there who signed rather cheaply (except Affeldt who signed for $4M per).

I do know that Lou has no confidence in Guzman or Cotts right now and I don't blame them.
