About

I grew up just across the border from Detroit near Windsor, Ontario where I developed a love for Detroit sports right away. My dad took me to Tigers opening day from the time I was 1 year old and I've been to countless Red Wings games as well.

I'm also a huge Patriots fan with a soft spot for the Lions.

I'm new to the sportswriting business but I love writing and it's always been a dream of mine to make it a career.

Thanks for reading and please let me know what you think!

Hi Nick. I certainly don't expect Cleary to score 53 goals like he did in the OHL in '95-'96. But I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the 32 goals and 80 points he put up the following season. He scored 26 last year missing 14 games. You don't have to look any farther than Cleary's own line-mate Johan Franzen for an example of a guy that upped his production when put in the right situation. Franzen did nothing in Sweden, or his first 2 seasons in Detroit, but given a chance with the right players around him he has blossomed late. Would I be surprised if Cleary puts up the same numbers as last year? No. But I think he needs to assume a bigger role in the offense for the Wings to have a deep playoff run and he's shown in the past that he has the natural talent to potentially do it.

Dan Cleary for a breakout year? Come on! Numbers like in the O, now? Cleary is 32 and a grinder with some offensive upside; he'll never be a prolific scorer, especially not after the age of 32.
