Rod's Bio

Rod Vedder - WR - Columbus Fire

Welcome to my Bleacher Report page! I grew up in Westerville, Ohio as a big Ohio State Buckeye and Duke Blue Devil fan. I'm 24, and I graduated from Otterbein College and Westerville South High School. I ran track in college, the 110m and 400m Hurdles.

College football and basketball is my passion, I will watch any game, but as stated above, my favorites are the Buckeyes and Blue Devils. I even got in trouble in elementary school for trying to talk college hoops with my 3rd grade teacher who wanted none of it.

I play football, so I do know a bit about it. I follow the NFL a little, because I love football, but I can't really pinpoint a favorite team. I do have some players I follow, like Troy Smith of the Ravens because he was a Buckeye, and Lance Moore of the Saints because we were friends in high school.

That all said, I hope you enjoy my points of view. I like to tell it how I see it, but I don't like to bash anyone, because calling people names and/or challenging their intelligence because of who they root for in the sports blogosphere is ridiculous. While some might call me a Buckeye or Blue Devil "homer", I do think I can be objective while still using good examples of those teams to prove my points. Enjoy!

  1. Thanks a lot man, very appreciated. A lot of room for me to improve though, so any criticism helps a lot, doesn't matter how much college I have, it matters how well I am, haha. You have some pretty good articles too though, anyway, GO DUKE!!

  2. Thanks for commenting, I was more or less trying to play devil's advocate. But I do think that Jones wouldn't do it agian if he were reinstated.

  3. Hey Rod,
    Thanks for the kind words.

  4. Rod,

From now until the opening weekend of college football I am going to be writing articles requesting votes for the All-Time Greatest College Football Team. Each article will request votes for the best player at each individual position, as well as a head coach. The week before the opening weekend of the season, I will tally up the votes and submit a fan’s voted, “Bleacher Report All-Time Greatest College Football Team.”

I don’t usually solicit reads for an article, but I am for this one. Because obviously it would require reads for votes, and votes for a team.

Hope you enjoy the debate over who’s the greatest in college football history. It should be interesting.

You can access the article here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/16945-College_Football-All-Time_Greatest_College_Football_Team_Best_Head_Coach-090408

    Thanks,
    Timothy Croley

  5. Hey, your welcome! I look forward to reading more about Ohio State football and Big Ten Football from you!

  6. Anyone who can talk me back on the Boeckman bandwagon deserves it, despite the ties to that despicable school in Westerville.

  7. Yes sir. When you win, act like you've been there. When you lose, act like you've been there.

Funny how after last night's tough loss, some of the WVU fans are acting like they HAVEN'T been there before. Lord knows they've been there before, ya know?

I guess some of them are still learning how to act after a loss.

Some people obviously learn very slowly.

    Spring game's gettin' close!

  8. thanks for the add

  9. Haha I know, let's try to keep it civil...I've done a lot of writing about the OAC (and you Otters) and if you'd like to read any of that let me know and I'll pass it along.

  10. Hey Rod! You're a lucky man. I'm quite a fan of the Pepsi girls. Don't know if they feel the same way about me though. ;) Go Bucks!

  11. excited for tomorrow's game? :)

  12. Yes, hopefully. I've been busy with school this week, so hopefully I can get it done. I won't even be able to see the game because I'll be on a plane to New Orleans. I'm extremely pissed off about that. Duke-Carolina is a must see for me, but this is the only flight I could get.

  13. Rod,
Thanks for the note. I really appreciated it. However, as you noticed, the thread of comments seems to have gone in a totally different direction. Funny how that happens, I guess.

But I just wanted to say thanks for dropping a note!
    Jessie

  14. Much props on having Kenyon Martin on your short list. Were you/are you a UC basketball fan? I'm a diehard, so you can imagine my affinity for K-Mart.

  15. Hey Rod,

Glad to hear you enjoy the new "article reads" feature. We thought it was time that all of you guys knew how enormous the reach of your writing was!

Hope your weekend is treating you well. Keep the great stuff coming.

    Zander
