Mike's Bio
My name is Mike Arrowsmith. I was born in Rockville, Maryland where I lived for 9 years before moving to Ashburn, VA. Ever since I was little I've always loved everything about sports. When I was four years old, I wanted to be a major league baseball player. Unfortunately, I'm only an average athlete and I knew very early that I wasn't going to be one of the lucky 1 percent that are fortunate enough to go pro. Around middle school, I realized that I loved writing and had a talent for it. I thought to myself, I may never be able to pitch for the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series, but I can make you feel like you were there through my writing. From that point on, I've had my heart set on becoming a successful sports writer.
In high school, I joined the Stone Bridge newspaper staff and become sports editor my senior year and loved every minute of it. During my junior year, I was a finalist in a sports writing competition at VCU. While in high school I also ran for the Varsity Track and Cross Country team and played Rec Leauge basketball. At the end of high school, I recieved a small sports writing scholarship from Stone Bridge for my dedication to the staff.
Currently, I am a freshman at Northern Virginia Community College. I am planning on majoring in Communications with a concentration in Sports Journalism. Next year, I'm hoping to transfer to VA Tech. In my free time, I am a sports columnist/broadcaster for Gameday Magazine.
Outside of school, my interests include reading, writing, running, and hanging out with my friends. My favorite sports teams are the Washington Redskins, the Washington Wizards, the Washington Capitals, and the Baltimore Orioles.
