Credit Where Credit Is Due: Illinois State University Professional Athletes
11/19/2009
Glad to see you were interested enough in me to check out the bio. I'm Owen Stiffler and I'm a broadcast journalism major and proud Redbird at Illinois State University. This site has increased my passion and desire to become a sports writer for a living at some point in my future life.
I absolutely love everything Chicago, aside from the Sox. I live and die by the Bears, Bulls, Cubs, Blackhawks, Fighting Illini, and the ISU Redbirds. Catch me on a day when one of these teams lose, and I'll likely be in a very bad mood.
I am the biggest Scottie Pippen fan you will ever meet. Although I was pretty young growing up in the '90s, the beautiful invention that is YouTube and the Internet has allowed me to relive those dominated seasons of Chicago Bulls championships.
I'm also diabetic so my all-time hero is obviously Ron Santo. I'm also excited to now have another diabetic in Chicago: Jay Cutler.
Outside of sports I'm very passionate about Conan O'Brien, television, food, and just relaxing in general. I also absolutely love comedy; humor is the world's best medicine.
Along with my love for Chicago and Illinois comes my hate for the state of Wisconsin and all sports in it. After seeing one of my favorite Chicago teams win nothing makes me happier than seeing the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, or Badgers lose.
I write for Illinois State's school newspaper The Daily Vidette and have also had articles featured on ESPNChicago.com.
Thanks for showing the interest and I hope you enjoy my articles. If you do enjoy these bad boys Twitter me @OwenStiffler. Keep cool my babies.
Hi Mate! pls take a look at my last article if you have time of course

Well, here I go again. I'm now taking on a subject that is not commonly discussed among men in sports, namely gay bashing. Similar to my article on racism, I'm sure this will generate some debate, so feel free to join in the fray.

Thanks for the POTD Owen.
BTW, I am diabetic, too, so I share your comments about Santo & Cutler.
But Scottie Pippen making Jordan? Wow, that had to be tongue-in-cheek, right? You can't be serious??

I had so many comments and suggestions of baseball players that the community members root for, it inspired me to do a brief follow-up article. Please check it out when you have a chance.

I just finished a top ten list from the 65 series played in MLB, NHL, and NBA this decade that actually went the full seven games. I wanted to place the Bulls/Celtics first round series in a historical context. Please check it out if you have a chance. Thanks
