Brandon Bohning

My name is Brandon. I currently live in Lawrence, Kansas. I grew up in Iowa and later moved to Kansas, where I finished high school, and graduated from the University of Kansas. I majored in Political Science and History which helped me get a job on the legislative staff of a prominent member of the U.S. Senate. I am a huge sports fan, hailing from Iowa, I did not have local teams to root for, and my family was a Minnesota sports family, so I have forever been a Twins and Vikings fan.

Aside from being a huge Twins and Vikings fanatic, I am a fan of all sports. With Kansas as my alma mater, college basketball is a huge part of my life, but I love KU football as well. The 2008 season for Kansas Football and Basketball, where an Orange Bowl and National Championship were won probably ranks as the best few months as a sports fan.

Aside from Kansas athletics I am also a soccer goon. I've followed Manchester United since 1999. I watch every game, follow the team as closely as any American possibly could. In the NBA my team is the Phoenix Suns. Many members of my family have lived or are living in the Phoenix area, and thus the Suns have been my staple NBA franchise.

My time in DC let the sport of hockey grow on me to a point where I now follow the Capitals progress and watch as many games as I possibly can, usually streaming the games on the computer. I never knew I would grow to love the sport as much as I do!

Hey Brandon: You need a history lesson. Quantrill didn't "spend the night atop Mount Oread", before the Lawrence Raid. Quantrill's men did not rape any women during the Lawrence Raid. "Upon Pain of Death" was the order by Quantrill to harm no Lawrence women. (The Missouri guerrillas DID murder, pillage and burn.) The jayhawkers of Border War past committed the crimes of murder, arson, robbery, burglary, larceny, child abuse and rape of both the black & white women. Abolition was he noble cause of the freedom fighters, white or black, Kansan or Missourian. Jayhawkers were terrorists, not freedom fighters. There is a difference. The Missouri uniforms were green in honor of American soldiers. Confederate uniforms were butternut or grey. To go "jayhawking" was to go theiving into Missouri, done by Kansans and Union Army Federal soldiers. Check your facts before writing a public article. The real historical record of these events and facts are readily available to any who check referecne material.
