Dmitriy Salita is an Orthodox Jewish boxer and boxing promoter who was born in Odessa, Ukraine and moved with his family to Brooklyn at the age of 9.
He started boxing at 13 at the Starrett City Boxing Club and had a reported amateur record of 59-5. In 2001 he was the New York Golden Gloves 139-pound champion.
Since turning pro that year he is 33-1-1 with 17 knockouts. He has won the NABA light welterweight, IBF International light welterweight and New York state welterweight titles, and fought for the WBA world light welterweight championship.
