About

I'm a builders' tea-guzzling, dirty joke-loving, poetry-scribing, occasional cigar-puffing, fat pussycat-stroking, Eric Cantona-adoring (my fat cat is called Eric), football-non compos mentis, creatively-inspired, United-Red blooded young-ish male/Northern ambassador/left-footed baller and MMA-fanatic. I realise that there are a lot of hyphens in the previous sentence though I think you catch my drift.

I'm an Englishman who thoroughly enjoys his MMA, and who often attempts to present a slightly different perspective on topical events, inherent also due to my geographical location. Sometimes humorous, but always well-researched, considered and thought-provoking. I hope you enjoy my articles, that they inspire debate, and I always appreciate any feedback, cheers.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic (yes, I'm a Manchester United fan), Jonny Bones, Lorenz Larkin (look out for him), Dan Hardy and Paul Daley (yes, I'm British)

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Manchester United, Bury Football Club, Salford City Reds Rugby League (all teams based in my beloved Manchester). In the U.S I have a soft spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers (since discovering a distant relative is from the city)

European Champions League Final 2008 (Viva John Terry)

  • Ruth or Mays?

    Ruth

  • Unitas or Montana?

I am a football (soccer) enthusiast and combat sports (boxing and MMA) aficionado. Aside from being well-versed in the above, I would not profess to be knowledgeable in many other sports, in particular certain US ones so there are certain questions on the Short List that I am not especially qualified to answer, short of basing my pick purely on name preference (in which case, Montana)

  • Jordan or Russell?

    Jordan

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky (second biggest Canadian athlete of all time behind GSP...what? Dana said it, not me)

  • Pele or Maradona?

Maradona (though I rate Pele's endorsement of viagra)

  • Federer or Sampras?

    Federer

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Tiger

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    *As with Unitas or Montana

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    Senna

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

    *As with Unitas or Montana

They can be interesting. I have thought about checking out the MMA. I know it's veryyyy different than the hockey fighting I'm used to seeing, but it sounds like a cool sport. Only one problem: it appears most of the fights are on PPVs, no?

mardquardt is a douche. he cheats and then talks shit about pot. granted he isn't the only cheater, but he really has made it easy not caring what happens to him. pot helps a lot of people and isn't a performance enhancer. to intentionally cheat day in and day out tells a lot about a person's character. pot is like having a beer. it isn't good for you, but every once in awhile should be mandatory so you don't turn out to be a douche bag. karma's a bitch.
p.s. when r gracie kicked him in the face after he hit what's his name after the bell was hilarious. he has always been a two faced shit head. when he punched palhares was about as pussy as it gets. palhares is also a douche too, so I guess karma worked again. peace.
