About

My name is Jarrad Saffren and I'm a lifelong Philadelphian and self-proclaimed cheesesteak savant who grew up an avid fan of all the local professional sports teams. I am currently a freshman at Syracuse University aspiring to be a Broadcast Journalism major in the SI Newhouse School of Public Communications.

In high school, I was the Sports Editor and Weekly Columnist for my school's newspaper. My work was also featured in the Bucks County Courier Times and Philadelphia Inquirer. At Syracuse this past year, I covered swimming and softball for the student newspaper The Daily Orange. I am also heavily involved with the sports department at a pair of the campus radio stations, Z89 (89.1 FM) and WAER (88.3). In my senior year of high school, I interned at 610 WIP Sportsradio, one of the nation's original sports talk radio stations.

I love sports because they're constant, unscripted source of emotional, passionate, and in many cases humorous entertainment. As a fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Sixers, and Syracuse basketball, I understand as well as anybody the highs and lows of being a passionate sports fan. As a fan, my opinions range from insightful to goofy to straight off another planet. Hopefully you'll find me as entertaining as my friends do. I look forward to learning and growing as a sportswriter with the Bleacher Report community.
