Claire's Bio

With the Oakland Coliseum minutes away from home, I had no choice but to be a sports fan.

While my dad was in the Navy our family moved from city to city until we settled in the Bay Area. Naturally, I was drawn to the Bay Area teams and followed them religiously.

At the age of 17, I left the Bay and attended college at UC Davis. With the need to escape home but not live too far, it was the most logical choice. During those years I developed a love of teaching (I was an instructor for two drumlines) and honed my writing skills. I graduated with a degree in Psychology (watch out!) and a minor in Communication.

To hide my identity as a superhero, I am a high school English Teacher. My love of writing is shared with 11th and 12th graders; only half are probably listening while a tenth of the class is comprehending the message.

Currently, I reside in Sacramento, CA with my two dogs and my boyfriend of 12 years (that's not a typo).

Oh, and yes, I do ride a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 600 (the sexy white/silver/blue one). That baby is all mine :)

  1. Claire, thanks for the kind words on the interview :) I want to do more of them, it's just difficult to figure out who to get in contact with to set this kind of stuff up. Because the guy from Versus is continually contacting me with stuff to advertise the games, he suggested this and I thought it would be a much more interesting way than just posting some links and stuff. I'm going to be seeing what I can wrangle out of him interview-wise once the finals are upon us, but for now I'm just kind of scouting out the field and seeing where I can wriggle in some time :)

  2. Hi Claire,

I'd be curious to see if you if you could take a look at one or two of my most recent articles and just shoot me with some feedback.

While I don't have the writing experience that you do, I'd like to know how to can get to your level. Some suggestions and comments, would be greatly appreciate it.

Anyways, while I'm not a fan of any of the same teams as you are, I enjoy reading your writing.

  3. Hey, Claire

View my analysis on the New Madden 09 and what I think of Favre in the cover, its pretty hilarious.

Maybe even Pick of the Day worthy. Remember vote for it.

  5. Thanks for reading my article and for the support. Sanchez and Lincecum are gonna make it tough for me to get some innings.

  6. Thanks, Claire for the read through. The one thing that I did change back was the Flame(r)s. It is an inside joke with Danielle who loves the Sharks and I told her I would do it. Have a great week.............

    GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  7. Hey, thanks for the great read!

  8. hi claire, just read your aticle on the 2008 draft of decoud. I have a quick question... how exactly were you able to interview decoud on a personal basis?

  9. Hey Claire, I posted another BTB article (T/O with BT—I'm trying to give my BTB stuff a title kind of—like the 'Sports Guys World' with Simmons, so any ideas for that would be great), so if you could look at it that'd be great (and just another thing about the "sidenotes"....I was hoping you could keep them italicized too :) sorry for all the trouble I cause!!)

I was also wondering if you got notified of stuff tagged with BTB because I feel kind of lame and needy (and bothersome) posting on your wall everytime something new goes up!

    Have a good one! :)

  10. Hey Claire, keep up the Phillies writing...we need more!

  11. hey! thanks for the edit. I had that written originally else where and just never changed it. I'm glad you liked it and I look forward to reading you're stuff. thanks again!

  12. Hey Claire,

Thanks for looking at my stuff! I've only got one thing thought: The whole "sidenotes" are just kind of a trend I've developed in my writing, and I feel that they sometimes offer some funny insight into the issue or idea I'm writing about because I kind of take a step back when I write them. That being said, the "These are things I think you should know" line is something that's developed along with that...so I'd prefer it if it could stay in next time.

    Thanks as always!

    BT :)

  13. Hey Claire, I tagged a couple of 'Beyond the Bleacher' entries this afternoon—the Phoenix Coyotes one and the Patrick Thoresen article. Thanks a lot :)

  14. Thanks for the edit, Claire. BTW, I've been with my girlfriend for 14 years. They should probably come up with different words after enough time passes. Since you're the pro I'll leave it to you.

  15. Oh yeah, cuz you know I'm just the most credible source out there haha.
