Claire's Bio

With the Oakland Coliseum minutes away from home, I had no choice but to be a sports fan.

While my dad was in the Navy our family moved from city to city until we settled in the Bay Area. Naturally, I was drawn to the Bay Area teams and followed them religiously.

At the age of 17, I left the Bay and attended college at UC Davis. With the need to escape home but not live too far, it was the most logical choice. During those years I developed a love of teaching (I was an instructor for two drumlines) and honed my writing skills. I graduated with a degree in Psychology (watch out!) and a minor in Communication.

To hide my identity as a superhero, I am a high school English Teacher. My love of writing is shared with 11th and 12th graders; only half are probably listening while a tenth of the class is comprehending the message.

Currently, I reside in Sacramento, CA with my two dogs and my boyfriend of 12 years (that's not a typo).

Oh, and yes, I do ride a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 600 (the sexy white/silver/blue one). That baby is all mine :)

  1. Claire, your articles are great, they always add something different to the mix that isn't just game recap. Keep on writing them and keep on telling people about BR.

  2. Hey Claire,

Make sure to check out the latest installment of my top 10 CF's of all time series: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/43356-move-over-barry-bonds-thats-why-i-play-in-center-field-part-ii

Not sure how into MLB history you are, but figured you might dig it.

  3. Hey Claire, thanks for taking time to edit my post. I apologize that I hadn't thanked you sooner. It's been a loooong time since I've been on the site.

  4. Claire, I'm trying to get together a Giants Round Table and wanted to know if I could get your email address. keep up the writing!

  5. Claire you must have a bunch of time on your hands or be bored out of your gourd to edit my Radio announcement piece... It wasn't really an article. Thanks, anyway.

  6. Hey

just writing to tell you that I am no longer writing for Bleacher Report. I have embarked on several new ventures of my own and they are in direct conflict content-wise with BR.

Two of my blogs (mrflushing.com and blognyg.com) have been incorporated into the Yardbarker network and and a third one - ny giant nation - is being run by sportsblognet.com

I also bought into a sports video site that is in its infancy - smackcaster.com - which we are still developing....

  8. Oh, I know about cubic zirconias. I just figured it was a "criteria/criterion" type-word. But you're the English teacher. Thanks for the feedback!

  9. I wrote a new article about Philly. Go check it out

  10. Claire, thanks for the kind words on the interview :) I want to do more of them, it's just difficult to figure out who to get in contact with to set this kind of stuff up. Because the guy from Versus is continually contacting me with stuff to advertise the games, he suggested this and I thought it would be a much more interesting way than just posting some links and stuff. I'm going to be seeing what I can wrangle out of him interview-wise once the finals are upon us, but for now I'm just kind of scouting out the field and seeing where I can wriggle in some time :)

  11. Hi Claire,

I'd be curious to see if you if you could take a look at one or two of my most recent articles and just shoot me with some feedback.

While I don't have the writing experience that you do, I'd like to know how to can get to your level. Some suggestions and comments, would be greatly appreciate it.

Anyways, while I'm not a fan of any of the same teams as you are, I enjoy reading your writing.

  12. Hey, Claire

View my analysis on the New Madden 09 and what I think of Favre in the cover, its pretty hilarious.

Maybe even Pick of the Day worthy. Remember vote for it.

  14. Thanks for reading my article and for the support. Sanchez and Lincecum are gonna make it tough for me to get some innings.

  15. Thanks, Claire for the read through. The one thing that I did change back was the Flame(r)s. It is an inside joke with Danielle who loves the Sharks and I told her I would do it. Have a great week.............
