Hi! ;-)

I am 20 and I live in Montreal.
I love writing, and I love Hockey. So the combination of the two made me a proud member of Bleacher Report.
My favourite team? The Montreal Canadiens. But please, do not include me in the extreme type: throwing beverages and burning cars is definitely not my type of thing to enjoy hockey! ;)

The last time they won the Cup, I was 6. So three words would define what type of fan I am: humble, patient, and hopeful ! When the Habs do not play anymore, I never really switch to another team but I do keep watching hockey.
Winter is great for Hockey and for snowboarding. Week nights are great for Two and A Half Men, Seinfeld and Family Guy. June is great for the Grand Prix du Canada. And September is great for the annual team's Jamboree.

For any question, comment about the Montreal Canadiens section, feel free to leave a note here or on Matt Eichel's board. Matt is also a Montreal Canadiens community leader here on BR.

Haha, actually Lacasse is 100% Quebec French. So nevermind the Slovakian thing, that's just Halak. But that would be good to get some French goaltending in there since most of the best goalies in the league are French (aka Brodeur, Luongo, Roy was)

Good point. Remember Loic Lacasse? He was a Slovakian goalie I believe that was supposed to be the next upcoming Euro goalie? Maybe he's still in the system. Or they'll grab someone from their ECHL team. That's where Desjardins was before Hamilton. But I like the prospect of Desjardins backing Price up in the future.

How about Danis gone? I remember listening to a radio game between Manitoba and Hamilton just before the AHL Playoffs and that Danis just wasn't the same goalie he was when he was first with Montreal. Remember his first game against Atlanta? I thought he would be the next starter. Kind of reminds me of the Mathieu Garon situation.

My first and only NHL game I've attended was actually in Montreal against the Avalanche. November of 2001.... Patrick Roy's last game ever in Montreal. The emotion in the building was electrifying. There were of course SOME booos, but most of the building gave St Patrick a standing ovation.

He definitely deserves his number in Montreal.

Was a fan of him since I was a kid and followed him to Colorado when he went. Then I saw Joe Sakic and the rest of the team, and been an AVS fan ever since.

I actually met Roy when during his coaching years in the Q. A few years ago, the Ramparts were in Bathurst playing my Titan. He was in a rush but still signed my AVS jersey.

No it was invented by a group of African American guys from Virginia, back in the 1800s. They eventually brout the game to Nova Scotia. ESPN did a huge documentary about it. I'd google it, if I were you, because it's really interesting.

Yeah, I'd like to have Breezer back for another season. I'm alot more comfortable with him back there as the 4th or 5th defenseman than as the 1st or 2nd defenseman like back when he was a few years back. He's a good asset and hopefully can get that last Cup and retire.

Wings won the Cup? At least it's a Original Six team, not any expansion team. Too bad for Pittsburgh though.

hey, got your question about the Conks/Sabou situation for the Pens.
Conklin is a UFA this year, while Sabourin has 1 year remaining on his contract.
I really dont know whats gonna happen, but if i had to guess, I'd say the Pens will re-sign Conklin based on his performance this season, maybe a short term deal since he is getting older.
If Sabourin agrees to play in the AHL, great. If not tho, I think it's likely that he will be traded this offseason.
Never know how these things will turn out, but it should be interesting.

It was an epic game...yes...epic! Truly a good win for the Pens.

I'm taking my time with this article, I've got some school work to do so it's kinda on the burner too. But if there are other people in the Canadiens community who would want to contribute to the series of articles that'd be a really big help in the writing process.

I hope the Pens pull it out. I think they can grab Game 6 at home, but if they do that Game 7 is up in the air. It's kind of like Edmonton winning both Game 5 and 6 two years ago and not being able to get the momentum in Game 7. But we'll see...

I'll tell you what... i was at the Mellon Arena watching this game on the jumbotron with about 6-7,000 fans, it was insane. I didn't think things could possibly get any crazier after Talbot's goal, but when Sykie buried it in OT, it was incredible.
This series is far from over...

Thanks for the comment Miah. Yeah, you have to admire and respect what the Pens were able to do in the span of one year. It's like I wrote, this is all because of gained experience. I'm not sure Therrien is the coach to take them to the promised land, but he too will have gained alot of experience. As for the comment about the Habs possibly taking it next year, you never know my friend ! It is their 100th anniversary next year and they also finished 1st in the East this year after missing the playoffs last year, and again, more gained experience.. Go Habs Go !

Being a defenseman, I have to agree with you. It also helps when your 2nd, 3rd & 4th lines are scoring and thumping the other team. Game 4 in Hockeytown on Monday night. Looking forward to watching the Wings hoist Lord Stanley once again. I will talk to you after the game and the victory party!

One article for forwards, one for defense, and one for goaltending is what you think we should aim for? Like a three-part series kind of thing? That would work, 'cause one long article could get lengthy with maybe too much information for one article.

Alright, I'll start doing something for the goalie section first. If you've got anything written up, send it over and we'll mash them together and then proofread and publish it in a day or two.

Alright, here's a plan:

We'll do goaltending section, defense section, forward section like you said. Within each, we can look at any UFAs, RFAs, players that the Habs may need to bolster their lineup. So, for instance, Kolzig needs to come in or not? Defense, do we need Campbell? Forwards, let's get Hossa, etc.

If you want we can each write a specific section, proofread. Then add anything to each others section, re-proofread, then put it together and see if it's what we like.

Sound like a plan? Pick a section you want to write on.

I'm down with that idea. Just an overview of the UFAs, RFAs, and even how they might factor into how they will affect off-season signings in the next two years, such as how they'll sign players this year will affect resiging Kovalev or Koivu. Yeah, and then the goalie situation and that too yeah.

Thank you for the add. I really appreciated your comment. When I was growing up I was a Habs fan. I remember when my friend and I would play hockey in his basement and have to fight over who was Patrick Roy and who was going to be Ron Tugnutt (the backup at the time which I am sure you remember). But being from the Ottawa Valley I made the really tough transition to become a Sens fan. Now I am all Senators but have a lot of respect for the Habs and certainly cheer for all the Canadian teams. Lets bring a cup back to Canada soon!

Koivu or Kovalev, it's a hard one. I think that the team played better when Kovalev was the captain in the Boston series, but Koivu seems to have that fire, but I don't think the other players can see that as much or get that inspired from him as they did from Kovalev. I mean, remember Kovalev's helmetless goal against Boston in Game 5? Amazing! How can that not inspire you?

At the same time, coming back from cancer can inspire someone as well and that's why it's hard to choose Kovalev over Koivu for sure.

As good an idea as that seems, I almost like it the way it is. To say that "these are the official bleacher report awards" kind of seems to demoralize the person of everyone getting their own say, and I kind of like seeing where everyone comes from and justifies their picks.

I have been mulling over a contest to do with the NHL awards (kind of like what I'm doing with the Finals right now—ps. i linked to your profile in that article haha) but I'm not sure if it's too late or not (The articles are coming out fairly sporadically...which makes it hard to justify a contest).

The one thing I could suggest is if we did a vote—which may work actually. I think you've just given me a great idea:

We post an article saying: "You Decide, the 2008 NHL Awards According the Bleacher Report". We publish an article with all of the awards and their nominees, and then we use the comments section to determine who Bleacher Reports choice for each award winner is!

I heard that Kozlig is thinking about retirement. To be honest I'm not sure Price will be able to play 70 games.At some point he'll get too tired. Habs might want to think real good before making a final decision. As for Halak,odds are he'll want to test the market,who knows maybe the Caps might be interested in him

In the AHL Justin Pogge has not started a playoff game yet (they have played 11 to date) Scott Clemmenson has started all of them.

Speculation is that Pogge will be brought up next season and that Raycroft will be bought out or I hear that we might be packaging him to Montreal for somebody named 'the artist'..ha..ha..

Without a coach, GM, captain how can I tell what their plans are .. call Anaheim and ask Brian Burke.

Seriously, if they bring Pogge up, how many games does he start? Leave him down for one more year, I saw the Marlies play this year, Pogge looked confident..I don't know why hhas yet to play in the playoffs!?

My picture is Wendel Clark, the toughest Captain in Leaf history, a first round, first overall pick in 1985. Yes he played for Quebec, we traded him there in 1994 to get Mats Sundin..Greek no, he is a farmers kid from Saskatchewan.

They asked Cliff Fletcher yesterday if the Swede was on his negotiating list..Fletcher said that they were the only non-playoff team in the running and that they had a 25% chance of signing him...who knows he's unproven, but he is still young..good for Dallas:)

Yes, I remember "Rollie the Goalie", I knew that it was one of those retro-80's goalies!

As for the 'artist', he is a classic, Koivu has apparently a pretty serious disposition about him and it doesn't sit too well with AK47...correct?

You can have Sundin after one more year here, as well as Tucker, he would probably go back there, but he loves TO and he has a young family that are all in school here. I have met him a few times he is a pretty cool dude and his wife is a lovely lady. They use to shop at my old store where I managed at.

The media have been quiet about Brunstrom... they only say that he may be over-rated, I am not sure! Sundin was in town last week and was visiting with his new 25 year old fiance, he said that he feels great and was playing coy about coming back. Like last year.. he said that he will make a decision around 'free agent' signing time. I think that if the Leafs are re-building then they should re-build around a young team and give Stajan the 'C'.

Miah, the sad thing is..is that they had two games where they had no business losing and poor Carey Price is going to be the scapegoat for the rest of the summer. Some of those goals were just out-right WEIRD! How is the 'vibe' of the city? Pretty shitty I would imagine..go get drunk and shake it off..lol!

What a dissapointing end to this season, eh? Not too dissapointed. Montreal's got a bright future if they can keep AK46, Streit, and Halak.

But we did finish first. I'm sick of how everyone blames the Canadiens for doing badly 'cause they went with inexperience. If that's the price you have to pay to get experience to get farther in future years, we'll take it.

and...

And Begin's hit was not late at all...I couldn't even count to 3, which is how long a ref should give you before it's a late hit.

I figured i would come out a happy camper since i like both the Stars and the Ducks, although my initial choice has taken up golf. Oh well, anyone who beats the Sharks i like! Now if the Wings will just fall. I probably shouldnt tell you my family being from Pennsylvania sorta is partial to the Flyers, but I'm going for the Habs. I need them to win.

Your Habs are really letting me down...i have them and the Stars to meet for the Cup. That way either way a Star lifts the cup (even if it is the habs coaching staff). Plus, wouldnt it be like the first time in ten years ya'll had made it to the cup?
