As far as this reporter is concerned, all other sports are just meaningless distractions until the NFL season starts. Then, it's seven months of ecstasy. As much as my heart longs for the first championships of my favorite teams, the Chargers, Sabres, Padres, and Beavers, I take consolation in the failure of the teams in my "Axis of Evil," namely, the New England Patriots, the New York Yankees, the Oakland Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Red Wings, the Washington Huskies, the Washington State Cougars, and USC. Please note that I wish no ill on the particular players... it's just the organizations themselves that represent pure, unadulterated evil.
