Hi I am Tim Casten 51 year old retired Air Traffic Controller. I have always loved to write articles and actually started at 14 years old working Firday nights for the sports department at the Clarksburg Exponent (West Virginia). I took the calls and stats on the High School Football Games, wrote the story and gave it to then sports editor Jim Mearns for publish. During the Basketball Season I worked Tuesday and Friday nights doing the same. The experience was fantastic and the lee-way I was given to write sports stories was great. I worked there till I was 17 and left for college. I continued to write but back then in the post internet era places to publish were slim. I became a Professional Fire Fighter Paramedic for the Bridgeport Fire Department while attending college and later was promoted to Captain. I married the love of my life Cindy in 1980 and have four fantastic children Brandyn, TJ, Katelyn and my youngest Matthew who has Autism and Down syndrome. In 1985 I was selected for a job change another challenge as an Air Traffic Controller. Since my retirement in 2008 I am working part time as for a government contractor as an Air Traffic Control Instructor. Oh yea, I am looking for a new career. I have finally gotten time to write about one of the things I love the most, it has always been a part of my life, Sports, in particular, I live and die West Virginia.
At present my two oldest children Brandyn and TJ are married, TJ is a Captain in the Army having served and received the bronze medal in Iraq. My youngest daughter Katey is a senior at West Virginia University and about to begin a career with the government in Washington DC. Our youngest Matthew is 16 still at home and still our biggest challenge we have. I am still married to my lovely wife Cindy, now for 29 years. I would like to really begin writing and blogging about everything sports related. I enjoy it and feel I have a lot to contribute and would love a new career in sports management or reporting.
