They could do that. I don't know whether it would be enough now to keep Howard there long term though. He appears to really want out.
I like the J.R. Smith and Wilson Chandler a lot, but like I said, I don't know that either of them would be enough to keep Howard. Smith gets more attention, but I actually would prefer Chandler if I was a team looking for a wing man. He's a better defender, he's younger and he shot a better percentage from the field overall.
Unfortunately, if I was in charge of the Magic, I'd probably just blow the whole thing up and start rebuilding with a young core that I got from trading Howard and a couple other guys. I'm not big on just throwing guys together normally. The Magic just don't have an identity anymore.

Nenad Krstic signed with a European team for the 2012 season so the Celtics cant trade him, and Kaman is not what the Celtics need. He's a bit older and unathletic for them.

Like your articles. I'm a Ravens fan but in the interest of high competition that we have come to rely on in the AFC North, I am disturbed by an article. I was reading an article on NFL.com by Matt Sessler (I think) about AFC North needs. He goes on to list, not only the major needs for each team, but other needs for the team as well. Example, for the Ravens he had our major need at ILB. Other needs listed for us were S, OT, so on and so forth. I read through all of the other teams needs, too. What surprised me and the reason that I am writing to you is because for every team except Cleveland, he listed WR as a need to be filled. Does Cleveland have a A.J. Green/Calvin Johnson/Andre Johnson attack that I am not aware of? I know that they keep jettisoning QB's and blaming them for their shortcomings but never seem to realize that they have no wide receivers to throw to. Massoquoi and Little? And they don't have a need for WR? Please help me on this. This guy was writing for NFL.com.
