Matthew's Bio

Matt Foust is an avid sports fan, born and bred in the heart of America. Consequently, he has been subjected to ample doses of both the joy and heartbreak that competitive athletics produces. Unfortuneately, it has been more on the heartbreak side in recent years as the Royals and Chiefs have not tasted anything resembling true success since the 1990's. Still, like a true fan, Matt labors on in support of his beleaguered teams.
Matt, in addition to enduring annual sporting misfortune, has served as a staff sports writer for the U-news (an independent paper covering the University of Missouri - Kansas City). He is also the owner and operator of Winning Totals Baseball Handicapping Service (www.HandicappingTotals.com).

  1. When you write your article, it has a thing you can click on which says "add or change image." Click on that and try to find an image which fits your story the best. I don't know who is spelling your name wrong, because I am fairly certain I was getting it right as I just copied and pasted it.

  2. No problem–keep up the good work on your previews.

5 months, 12 days until Mizzou opens up in St. Louis against Illinois. We should open the season as a top-10 team and it's not entirely impossible for us to go undefeated. The three biggest tests will be Illinois, @ Texas, and then the Big 12 Championship. I think we'll blow past a Rashard Mendenhall-less Illinois, but that Texas game is going to be tough. The good news is that kU finally gets some meat on their schedule and probably will lose at least three games to Texas, OU, and Texas Tech before they lose to Mizzou in Kansas City, so I'm not too concerned with making it back to the Big 12 Championship game. If we do, we'll be playing back-to-back games at Arrowhead, with the second one being against the winner of the Red River Shootout (probably OU). I think we'll take them at Arrowhead and, barring any slip-ups in conference play, go to at least the Fiesta Bowl.

As for basketball, I'm just glad we won't be seeing Hannah, Butterfield, Horton, or Brown out on the court ever again.

Have you been following the baseball team? If not, I strongly suggest you do. We're ranked #4 in the nation and have an absolutely dominant trio of starters in Aaron Crow, Kyle Gibson, and Ian Berger who easily could lead us to Omaha.

  3. No problem. It was a signing that flew under the radar. Thanks for adding me as a favorite writer!

  4. Hey Matthew,

I just wanted to let you know that Bleacher Report has launched out of beta with an updated look and feel and some great new features. Check out the "Game On" link in the header to find out more.

Next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements—and it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.

Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend Matthew!
