I think if they want to win now, then they have to stick with Vick. However, if they bring in Gruden and they want to win now, I think Smith is a great option. Gruden has had success with QBs like Smith (underwhelming, underachieving, a bit older). I think that's a really good observation on your end.
But I also think they need to blow it up and rebuild, ie 3-4, draft a receiver and find some secondary players. And Alex Smith would be a fine option while they're in the middle of that process. After all, Foles isn't anything to write home about--at all.

Bernie, whoever the Eagles choose as a head coach next year, I think our best chance of winning now, with the talent we have now, would be to make a deal for Alex Smith. It is pretty clear that he is going to back up Kaepernick the rest of the season. If we beef up the defense and keep a healthy O line, I think Smith could do well with McCoy and Jackson. Thoughts?
