Michael's Bio

I grew up in northeast Ohio as an avid fan of Cleveland sports. I started to become a fan just as the Browns of the late '80s were losing AFC Championship Games to John Elway and those damn Broncos on a yearly basis. Little did I know then, that I was being setup for what was to continue in the world of Cleveland sports.

It had been going on since 1964. The city was and continues to be without a major sports championship since the 1964 Cleveland Browns. And not only do the local teams not win championships, they lose in excruciating ways that make you believe that there is such a thing as a jinx.

As the Cleveland Indians began their successful run through the '90s in the newly built Jacobs Field, I became a baseball fan at heart. It is really the only sport that I have grown to truly care about over the years. It is a perfect game in my book. Thus, I spend my days reading and researching everything I can about the game and the Indians in general.

The more I have become a fan of the game, the more I have wanted to become involved in any capacity.

I started by becoming a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, then became a scorekeeper for AAA Columbus Clippers games for Baseball Info Solutions, and just this year have decided to make myself even more involved by writing and sharing my thoughts on the game with the ultimate goal of someday making some money. But if that never comes, I am at least having fun doing it.

After spending a season as the co-community leader for the Indians page with Nino Colla, you can now find me at BASEBALLDIGEST.COM where I serve as the Indians Content Editor. I have also been a contributor to seamheads.com where I produced a weekly fantasy article detailing the American League called Roto Chronicles, and have recently contributed to John Burnson's Heater Magazine and "Graphical Player 2009" publications as the Indians "team expert".

Some other not so important information about me, but I like to point out as it relates to the Indians, I'm a graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Home of All-American Brian Anderson, of Cleveland Indians '97 post-season lore. And I was born in Ashland, OH famous for Matt Underwood, voice of the Indians TV broadcasts :)

Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols, and any Cleveland Indians. Plus, Eddie George, my all-time favorite football player.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Cardinals

  • All Time Sports Moment

Of all the ones I have been alive to see...Kenny Lofton scoring from second base on a passed-ball in the 1995 ALCS versus the Mariners was quite memorable.

    Cy Youngs 511 Wins

Ruth was way ahead of his time and changed the game. I'd go Ruth.

  • Pele or Maradona?

I have no idea???!!!!!! I think I have heard of Pele.

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

Big 10, only because I live in ohio. But overall SEC is tops right now as the Big 10 used to be.

  5. Wow. That was sweet. The Browns have scored 12 points in the 3 games I went to this year. No TDs. I felt bad for Phil Dawson today. He kicked off to start the game and that was it. No more plays for Phil. He should have come up and chill, literally, in the Club Section with me.

Anyways, the link to this week's round table is listed below. If you can get it back to me ASAP, that would be great, if you can't this week because of the holidays, just let me know.

If you can get it back by Tuesday night that would be great.

    Thanks,

  10. Just a note to all community leaders. I'm trying to collect e-mails. I have most of them from when we did the awards, but If it's changed since then, or you are new to the team, make sure we're cool on the e-mail.

With Free Agency starting tomorrow, we should probably be thinking offseason plans. I encourage everyone to put up some sort of preview for their own team. Highlight some needs, maybe look at who your team has on the market, or potential targets. If enough people get in on it, I'll post a collective article to highlight everyone's work.

If your a new community leader, welcome aboard. If you've been around, make sure you go around, become a fan of some of the other CL's and support each other. We're a team here!

    -Nino

You know the more and more I read about what we are planning on doing, my head explodes.. For some reason, all the options out there worry me. I mean Trevor Hoffman is 41, ahhhh!

  11. Hey Michael.... Good job on the Browns Table. We disagree on several points but you make good arguments, and that's what it's all about.

Who knows who is right and who is wrong, but at least I know we share the common love for the Browns and just want them to win win win. Maybe someday.

  12. Excited about Holliday yes, but sad about Carlos Gonzalez.
I like your writing style and your love for the sport is apparent, keep up the great work! :)

  13. Michael-

Brian Scott just wrote a nice Marlins preview, and I was hoping you could reach out to him. Our Marlins community is one of the worst on B/R so we can use every bit of help we can get. Thanks!

  14. Damn dude, awesome. I've been so busy the Indians have gone by the wayside here.. I can't wait till things start settling down and I can get back to posting more Indians' stuff.

Good luck with the podcast stuff. Our show is really fun.. I've gotten some people from B/R to come on and talk college football a few weeks. It's really cool.

Glad you like the targets.. I think Orlando Hudson is a bad idea as well. I really feel like a 2B would be a last resort for us as far as an addition. I'd be more surprised to see us sign two cheap 3B and let them compete.. On one hand, can you believe Mark Ellis was signed for so cheap! That would have been the one 2B I would have liked to have.

    PS.. 5-1 :)
