PS: As to Feds with the new racquet - the serve is back with more zip, backhand (I think you'll agree), much improved - more stable, more zip. Not as powerful as Wawi's single hander of course, but who's is? The forehand is getting there. He seems rather cautious at times which I believe is down to the fact that the control (with the bigger racquet) is not quite there, but when he does unleash and it hits the spot - it's almost there and I would think this will improve when he feels more comfortable and confident with the range, although perhaps not so reliable as in the past.
Thanks for your message Harris. I've been away on holiday so was only able to watch up to QFs. Anything I say now has been overtaken by events(!) I thought Feds would be tired: after all he played in two tournament finals and won one. Just goes to show how fit he is to make it to the SFs of the USO also. But Monfils took the last of his energy in my opinion, and clearly Cilic was playing at his absolute best. I wasn't surprised that he demolished Nishi who must have been exhausted (I hadn't expected him to get through Djokovic I must admit). At least he and Wawrinka are through to DC final so hopefully (again from my perspective) they might get a consolation prize!
Thanks, Harris. Saw your note about a post-USO article: For now, I will only be able to complete a weekly article (Sunday), so must forego the Tuesday and Thursday articles (one article per week now instead of three)....I've had several very important demands come up, so my writing time has been very limited. Hope to produce more in the future, and for now most of the more casual tennis audience will be hibernating.
I'm disappointed Feds couldn't get his 8th - that would have been so wonderful (from my perspective). But I'm truly happy for Djokovic's win. He's a genuinely nice guy and perhaps (in relation to making so many finals and leaving without the trophy), he needed this more. They gave us a fantastic match anyway.
Thanks for the info on IDs - Good on most programmes, but a bit of a dunce on websites!
Thanks for the fan add.
Harris, thanks for the fan add. I appreciate that your comments are fair in looking at tennis and the players from multiple perspectives.
