Tynan has yet to fill out a bio.
@Tynan: - “polamalu is a great player and he does some incredible things but Ed Reed has changed what it means to be a safety” - Tynan
You then say:
- “now you have guys coming in like Eric Berry and Earl Thomas and Rahim Moore who people describe as having a game like Ed Reed”- Tynan
- “Polamalu is an athletic freak and what he does cant be duplicated”- Tynan
Ok, wouldn’t that statement indicate Polamalu has also changed what it means to be a safety?
You say Ed Reed changed what it means to be a safety, yet you also state what Polamalu does can’t be duplicated. How does that mean Reed is legendary and Polamalu is not?
I agree, what Polamalu does cannot be duplicated. The way the Steelers use him and allow him to freelance when healthy is unique in the league due to his capabilities in both run and pass defense. What Reed does, as you say, can be compared to these college kids.
I agree, Reed is great. But, to regard him as a legend and Polamalu as not legendary is pretty absurd. You said yourself Reed can be compared to college kids. Polamalu has not been because, as you said- “Polmalu is an athletic freak and what he does can’t be duplicated”. Making him that much more legendary in my opinion.
“Ed Reed sets a new standard league wide every time he steps on the field” - Tynan
Right, Reed sets a new standard yet you say he is compared to college kids and what Polamalu does can’t be duplicated.
I think you made my point for me.
