By day: a grammar-obsessed editor...by night (ok, afternoon): a preschool teacher to two- and three-year-olds.

I can credit my toddlers for everything I know about the wonderful world of sports. Here are the most important lessons they've taught me:

1. If there's a ball in sight, it's MINE!

2. If I get my hands on said ball...RUN. (Especially when someone bigger than me is chasing me and trying to take it.)

3. Sometimes when you hit someone, you have to take a timeout.

4. When the game’s over, it’s nap time. (Maybe that’s not a sports thing as much as a personal credo.)

As a Michigan State graduate, I'm a big Spartan fan -- go green!
I'm also a fan of my local teams: the Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons.

Hey Emily,

How many "headline tweaks to draw reader interest?" do you do every day? Every time I go to edit something, it seems like you've tweaked the headline! Hahaha...but hey, we need more people like you around here to fix all of our mistakes, especially with people like me just sitting around and stream-of-consciouness-ing (yeah, I use "stream of consciousness" as a verb way too much).

OK, I have a question for you and I want you to remember Mr. Spock's words from the first Star Trek movie, "I have no ego to bruise." I graduated with a minor in Journalism in 1990 and haven't done much writing for news since then, I basically concentrated my efforts in broadcasting. I'm thinking about getting either a part-time writing, editing position or going freelance. In your opinion, do I have what it takes, honestly? Or is this just a pipe-dream I'm thinking about. You edit stories by night, what do you think. I really don't want to be laughed to scorn by going after this. Let me know and thanks.

(I tend to read a line 20 times, believe it says one thing, then later find out it actually says something else...I'm not sure if they've released a medication for this yet or not)

Hi Emily,
OK, Changed title in art. to "Kobe Urges Fans... Now it makes sense to add Kobe tag. Beginning, middle, and end are about Kobe, plus the theme. lol Also am trying to get Kobe's webmaster to include art on his site and wouldn't hurt to title this way. (Its really an art about Kobe the leader with Kwame the sub part)
