Some of us become fans of a home-town team, some because of a family tradition, some of us witness something spectacular that hooks us at an early age. Sometimes we see an athlete and we just like them, and become a fan. For me? I was given a Miami Dolphins lunchbox in kindergarten....and the rest is history! Also growing up in the heart of ACC basketball, I developed an early appreciation for the passion in college sports.
I follow most of the main stream sports, but football is my all time favorite. As I've gotten older in life, I found myself drawn to everything that makes the game what it is, not just the game itself. The stories behind the scene, the heartbreak of a veteran player getting cut, and the joy of an undrafted rookie making the team, and seeing his dream come true. The men like Warrick Dunn or Dan Marino, who have used their resources and notoriety to make their community a better place, or create foundations for medical advancements. The inexact science of building a team...I know there were a lot of GM's in 1998 that would have picked Ryan Leaf ahead of Peyton Manning.
Like all sports fans, I've got passion and opinions, and now I'll get to share them. Looking forward to what comes next!
