Tyler's Bio

I'm a journalism student at the University of Georgia.

I've covered a little bit of everything working for The Red & Black (UGA's independent student paper), from Stafford and Knowshon, to Georgia baseball in the College World Series, to the five-time defending national champion Gym Dogs.

I have heavy editing experience at The Red & Black and have been an editing intern here on BR, and loved every minute of it.

I haven't written for BR in a while, but I've been writing an ungodly amount for The Red & Black and I'm looking to get back in the Bleacher Report game.

That's me with the Heisman at SEC Football Media Days last June.

Also, here are a few links to some of my stories from The Red & Black. You can find more by searching my name at The Red & Black Web site:

On how new Georgia basketball coach Mark Fox fits into the successful coaching staff at Georgia: http://media.www.redandblack.com/media/storage/paper871/news/2009/04/08/Sports/Carving.A.New.Legacy.Fox.Newest.Addition.To.Monumental.Coaching.Staff-3701200.shtml

On Georgia kicker Blair Walsh, yoga practitioner extraordinaire: http://media.www.redandblack.com/media/storage/paper871/news/2008/08/29/FirstGoal/Freshman.Kicker.Goes.To.Great.Lengths.To.Improve.His.Game-3408001.shtml

On Georgia gymanstics coach Suzanne Yoculan's now-past retirement: http://media.www.redandblack.com/media/storage/paper871/news/2008/12/04/Sports/Suzanne.Yoculan.The.Fifth.Senior-3568668.shtml

Tyler Writes About

The Short List What Tyler thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

    Greg Maddux

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Atlanta Braves, Falcons, Georgia's pretty cool too.

  • All Time Sports Moment

    The 1995 World Series

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

John Smoltz-Greg Maddux, Braves-Padres in 2007. Maddux gets huge standing ovation when gets up to the plate, rips a single on the first pitch from Smoltzie, and gets good-naturedly booed. Priceless.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Nolan Ryan's no-hitters. Nobody ever talks about this...

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth. Duh. What's not to love about a fat, hot-dog eating, beer-drinking, womanizing wonder of a man.

  • Unitas or Montana?

    Montana. Showmanship is for weenies

  • Jordan or Russell?

    Jordan

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    Gretzky

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele. I hate soccer. I don't even know who Maradona is.

  • Federer or Sampras?

    um...Federer?

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Eldrick

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

Don't particularly care, but I'd have to say Earnhardt.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

well, I don't know who Senna is, so Schumacher (this is racing right?)

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

    SEC. Best at everything.

  6. Hey Tyler—Jeff here, a Bleacher Report Community Coordinator.

I've been spending time on our Georgia page and read a couple of your old articles. Really on-point analysis...you do good work.

Given that you haven't written in a while, I thought I'd check in and see if you're interested in picking up your coverage again. What do you say?

If not, it would be great if you could give me some feedback on why you decided to stop writing and what we could have done to better serve you. If you wouldn't mind, please shoot me a line at jeff@bleacherreport.com with any thoughts.

    Thanks so much,

    Jeff
