Born near Memphis, TN and moved to Tupelo, MS as a youngster. Went through High School and some community college in the Tupelo area. Traveled to Ft. Walton Beach,FL on vacation when I was 21 and liked it so much I went home, quit my job and moved there. I know that being in MS until I was 21 was a long time to be in Mississippi but I didn't know we were free to leave. Went back to school at 27 for a degree because I got tired of training my new bosses fresh out of college who were paid double what I made as a prototype machinist.
I now have an engineering degree that I never use because my job is motorcycles. I work at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL (Home of the Blue angels) as the Traffic Safety Training Manager. I teach a number of different car driving courses, including the one you take to get out of tickets, but my primary function is motorcycle training. Motorcycle Safety Foundation certification to teach: Basic, Experienced, Advanced, Sportbike and Dirtbike courses is the job I really love. I raced at a pro level until a crash and a compression fracture of the spine ended that career at 21 and I'm extremely pleased to find that I once again earn my living riding motorcycle at the ripe old age of 49 with 4 years experience..
Hey there!! thanks for letting me know, I had no idea. I love the Chive :D
Hey Grey, thanks so much for reading (again). I really appreciate the support I've been getting on Bleacher Report, for the most part people have been overwhelmingly positive-- not what I expect on the internet generally :)
I hope you'll become my fan on here! No pressure though =)
