About

My career began in journalism that included covering all sports from the local to the professional ranks. I covered the San Francisco 49ers for three years, and then became an editor in 1988 where I led a staff of five reporters to turn the section into an award-winning enterprise.

Upon leaving the newspaper world in 1994, I expanded my career opportunities in magazines and travel. Those endeavors included getting Travel & Leisure Golf magazine off the ground, then shifting over to the ecommerce side as editorial director at Fogdog Sports. I continued to write for health care, educational and corporate clients. Throughout my career I have maintained my freelance business by regularly contributing to a variety of magazines.

With respect to the 5 "must" free agents for the 49ers, you have, I believe, over-rated Mario Manningham. He made a game changing catch in the Super Bowl but his hands are certainly not like "magnets". That catch is going to make him a very highly paid player. Unfortunately, the team that does sign him will be greatly overpaying. Let it not be the 49ers that overpay.

    Thanks,

Strong possibility of the NFL being diluted in quality, by extending the regular season to 18 games. My solution generates additional league revenue and increased competition, without sacrificing the quality and integrity of the NFL.

    Ron,
all I said is that eventgs like the masters and the PGA are not on the PGA Tour. Yes, they count for Fed Ex points, but that's due to the agreement between the differnt organizations that hold the tournaments. But they are not part of the PGA Tour, just like Tiger plays in Dubai.
