One more quick add, please read the comment and let me know what you think by hitting me on my message board, thanks,
Hey Tim, I apologize for getting back so late, but there was an issue with my account and I was not able to post any comments.
First off, I would like to say that it does not bother me that you posted on my message board, so there was no apology needed. I enjoy getting into debates on sports topics, so it doesn't annoy me at all.
Second of all, I would like to make clear my position in regards to Tyler Hansbrough. I was called a Hansbrough hater and had a hard time believing I am any such sort. I may not have clearly stated where I stand in regards to him.
You may have read a comment in which I stated the Pacers need to approach Hansbrough honestly during free agent negotiations and let him walk. I have two reasons for making that statement, but neither attack Hansbrough as a player or a person.
First reason being that the Pacers made it priority #1 to resign West. Though it may seem that when doing this, they would not have the cap-room to keep both, this is not why I believe they need to let him go.
Hansbrough, does understand what he is worth. He has displayed great talent when having the opportunity to start for the Pacers. He has stated that the main determining factor in Free Agency was the amount of minutes he would be awarded. Tyler wants/deserves starter minutes at his next destination.
I do not believe the Pacers should trick him into coming back by promising that he will have minutes, when they likely won't be there. Hansbrough has given too much to the Pacers organization for them to stoop that low.
I actually have been a Hansbrough fan since i tuned the tv to ESPN to watch a hometown prodigy from my city of Indianapolis named Greg Oden take on the little known team from Poplar Bluff Missouri. A skinny powerforward with a relentless motor stole the show.
I then followed that same power forward through his college career at North Carolina where he dominated the ACC for his entire time there. I then heard my favorite team announce they were drafting him into the NBA, if you haven't figured it out, it was Hansbrough.
Unfortunately, in regards to West, what they stated he was brought into do isn't what was done. In an interview the year he was brought in one of the local announcers asked West, "how he plans to groom Hansbrough's career to be the next starting forward". West and the Pacers had great success last year, so that day may not come. I don't know if I could change the starting lineup that was the second highest in point differential, so I understand the thought process behind resigning him.
I believe wherever Hansbrough goes, he we show everyone else the talent I believe he already has. I'm still going to root for him, even when he isn't draped in the blue and gold, and know that he will keep up his blue collar gold swagger for the rest of his career, where the best years are ahead of him.
Thank you for your time,
Not a problem, someone had to do it.. :-)) I now live in Greenville NC. I spent many days over in Emerald Isle surfing the waves over by the pier. I still have some family that lives in Morehead, so I get back on occasion. Love the beach!!
hey tim you asked about a response to your comment on my mock draft article and it appears that response was removed for being offensive. i guess some people just cant make an argument without getting childish and stupid. thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. i thought the point you made was really good.
Sorry about that outrageous character commenting on my article. A lot of people on this site go way out of line. It's nice to see someone like you on here. I hope the idiots on here don't spoil your bleacher report experience.
