7. One of the many reasons William Nuschler Clark, Jr. is the man:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUkTfbOEKTs&feature=player_embedded

Once upon a time, I was a three-year varsity starter in baseball and basketball for a Northern Californian public school of a decent size. Now, I'm a 31-year-old (are you happy, Emma?) with an engineering degree, a JD, and writing about sports online. Go figure.

What else? That's not my real name. Andrew is, but Nuschler is lifted from/in tribute to No. 22. Used it because I'm a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan and he's one of my all-time favorite baseball players.

But you can see all that down below.

Love any and all contributions from editors. But...PLEASE don't add pagination. I hate it. Down with pagination.

Yep, no rules whatsoever—except, of course, to use a semicolon ;-)

My handwriting was just about illegible, and half the story was written in the margin...oops!

Thanks for the advice. Once I started, it was actually easier than I expected. Not brilliant - didn't have conversations going on per se, it was more one character speaking, some stuff happeningm, then another bit of speech...but it still counts ;-)

Have you seen Crash? Gotta do a project on it for one of my classes. In a group w/ a bunch of jerks who don't do any work - so pissed off. Still, my friend and I will do our bits, and the rest can just look foolish ;-)

If you're wondering why I'm posting you so often just now, it's b/c I'm bored out of my mind and you never seem to care that half of what I say is either ridiculous, pointless, or irrelevant ;-)

This is related to the Lincecum article—reminded me of something I heard about not too long ago, thought I'd share ;-)

Read this before the rest of my post: http://www.scotsman.com/drugspolicy/Call-for-addicts-to-receive.5649623.jp

Hmm. Providing heroin on the NHS would reduce crime and illegal sales of the drug? Well, I'll be damned. THAT I couldn't have seen coming.

Let's see—I can either get a small, impure amount which contains god-alone-knows-what-else for a large amount of money......or I can get some probably pure heroin FOR FREE off the NHS. Hmm. Difficult choice, that, I gotta say.

Bloody morons.

Here's my suggestion: Reduce the stigma attatched to heroin addiction by TV adverts for rehab clinics. Kills two birds w/ one stone, so to speak—people become more aware of the problem (and as such it becomes a more common conversational topic, meaning people are less likely to judge), while at the same time brings realisation that there is help available. Few addicts themselves are going to willingly search out rehab (I wouldn't imagine) which means it's down to family and friends.

Now, if that would have any effect at all (and I don't know if it would), it's only for people who have family/friends etc. who live in places w/ TV's. And frankly, the biggest drug problems are out on the streets and in the slums. And people who live in those places don't want anything to do with people who have money, which means if there was anything going to happen it would have to be by someone who knows what it's like, ie a recovered addict. Small steps at a time—obviously recovery doesn't happen overnight, but certain people within these groups can be targeted as being most likely to respond to somebody who wants to help them.

But let's face it—heroin is NOT the first drug a person takes. That's why marijuana is called a gateway drug—once you've had that first high, it's impossible to regain it w/ marijuana, and so you move on to bigger, harder drugs. That's why I disagree w/ the notion of marijuana being legalised. They've been messing around w/ the classification of it in Britain, and I can't remember what the final verdict was. I'm not saying ban it outright—if it has medical properties, fantastic. But ONLY doctors should be able to make the decision to prescribe it, and it should most definitely be closely monitered. People saying they smoke marijuana b/c it helps with some health problem of theirs is just pushing the boundaries further and further out.

Anyway, the problems generally start when kids are my age. There is a definite tendency by local councils to ignore the issues caused by having poverty-stricken areas and 'bad' schools—the kids who go there are often neglected by their parent (single mothers are most common) and are then further neglected by the state. Is it any wonder they turn to drugs? I mean, really. It's a vicious, vicious circle.

Marijuana for fun every once in a while...well, it's not my call. But serious drug addiction is most likely to begin with a little recreational use of marijuana (or so we're being preached by the high-and-mighty...teachers talk a lot of bs at times, but to some extent I can see the logic in this. Reckon they might be exaggerating slightly, but the basic premise is there). So the difficulty is, at what point do you draw the line?

Good lord, I hope this topic comes up at my next debate ;-)

How's the studying going? Mine is...uh...well, let's not go there ;-)
