Reflections of Pacquiao – Cotto
11/16/2009
Pleas Lucian Kavanaugh is an aspiring novelist and screenwriter, sports journalist, avid blogger and former Golden Gloves boxer.
He was born in Kentucky to a draftsman and an aspiring writer and raised across the south and southeastern United States. From early childhood, the importance of education, especially literary arts, was heavily emphasized by his parents. At age six, he decided to follow in his mother's footsteps as an author and has spent the better part of his life dedicated to honing his craft as a writer.
When a cousin's involvement in boxing spurned his own interest in the sport as a teenager, Pleas began studying the intricacies of the sweet science and, despite his mother's adamant protests, enjoyed a sporadic career as an amateur amassing a modest thirty plus bouts.
After more than a decade in the sport, the extensive training regiment, hectic academic schedule and the reality of too few hours in the day culminated in the decision to retire from boxing and pursue a degree in English from the University of Kentucky.
After college, Kavanaugh continues his involvement with boxing from the sidelines by providing unique insight through his journalistic efforts. He also hopes to contribute further to the sport at the amateur level by establishing a local boxing club in Lexington, where he has resided for the past nine years.
