About

Just got everything back up and running here, and I look forward to dropping some baseball knowledge and insight here at b/r. I'm going to be doing some more multimedia stuff at my site http://www.baseballbytom.com/ so check that out as well. As for me, I'm a former college newspaper editor who also spent a short time working part time at a daily newspaper. I've covered everything from an NFL training camp to girl's high school hockey. Now, I write about sports as a hobby.

Short List

  • Favorite Sports Teams

    Minnesota Twins

  • All Time Sports Moment

    Oct. 6, 2002: Twins 5, A's 4 ALDS Game 5. I'll never forget A.J. Pierzynski's two-run homer in the top of the ninth. Booyah.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Aug. 23, 2005: Twins 1, White Sox 0. Twins only got one hit against Freddie Garcia, a Jacque Jones homer in the eighth, but that was enough for Johan Santana and Joe Nathan. Awesome game.

    Hey Tom,

Ryan Zimmerman’s hit streak halted at 30 games last night. As one streak ends, another is admired. Read about how Joe DiMaggio forever redefined ’56,’ and how his feat may never be broken. It is a record that thankfully cannot be broken through steroid use, and represents all that was once right in a game that has since gone so wrong.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey Tom,

Lou Gehrig has somehow been forgotten amongst the game’s immortals, even though he was possibly even more of a reason for the success of Ruth’s 1927 Yankees. Read about the quiet, forgotten leader of “Murderer’s Row,” Henry Lou Gehrig.
