About Matt »

Currently, I am a freelance sports broadcaster and production assistant for Turner Sports (TBS) in Atlanta.

My most recent on-air work was a freelance job as a studio host and analyst for TBS Hot Corner, a live, interactive Internet show that aired during each game of the inaugural season of Major League Baseball postseason coverage on TBS in 2007. The website, www.mlb.com/tbshotcorner, was run by Turner Sports and affiliated with MLB’s website. The show consisted of a 90-minute pre-game show and was live throughout all games aired on TBS, ranging from one game a day to three. The website was an interactive complement to the TV game broadcasts, with studio cam, dugout and pitcher cams live from the game, and a game tracker cam arranged in a four-square mosaic that could be viewed simultaneously or individually with a full screen. My duties on the show included hosting with two female co-hosts, game analysis, interviewing baseball guests via phone and in-studio, reading highlights, answering instant messages on-air, and emceeing a female baseball clothing line fashion show.

For the past three baseball seasons, I have been a play-by-play broadcaster and media relations director for three different minor league baseball teams.

I was the play-by-play broadcaster and media relations director for the Kannapolis Intimidators in 2007. Kannapolis is a single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox in the South Atlantic League and is located just outside of Charlotte, NC. In 2006, I filled the same role for the Wilson Tobs (NC), a collegiate summer league team in the Coastal Plain League. In 2005, I served in that position for the Auburn Doubledays, a single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays located in Auburn, NY.

I am a 2005 graduate from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. I majored in broadcast journalism and had a minor in coaching.

The Mets and Phillies are both great team, but will the NL east race be close again?
