About

Writing is something I've always loved to do. I joined the military at 18 and wrote for various military publications throughout my five years on active duty, including two years in South Korea writing for the 2nd Infantry Division, which was stationed on the border (DMZ) of North and South Korea. During that time (2004), I won various awards, including Journalist of the Year for the Asian Theater, but also took home two Army-wide writing awards.

After finishing my active-duty time, I joined the Reserves and came back home to go to college. I was then hired to be the assistant sports editor for the Daily Tribune News in Cartersville, Ga., eventually getting promoted to sports editor, where I stayed at for the next three years. In 2008, I was recognized by the Associated Press of Sports Editors for a top 10 special section in which I researched, wrote stories, gathered photos and layed out a section detailing 100 years of high school football at one of our local schools. I also won awards from the Georgia Press Association for sports and sports commentary writing.

During this time, I attended Kennesaw State University and completed my communications degree in three years, while maintaining my full-time job at the newspaper and working two-part time jobs along the way.

I left the newspaper in 2010 when I married my wife, Kelli. Now, we live in Grayson, Ga., and are expecting our first child in August.

I've been a featured columnist for Bleacher Report since December, and also work as a freelance sports and news writer for the Gwinnett Daily Post, Georgia's second largest newspaper.

It'd be cool if you wrote about the Braves start, and things they could do to drive in more runs, trades, line-up changes and things like that. Theres a lot of disappointed braves fans, could get you a feature on the home page.

Very nice tribute piece to Coach Summitt, Mr. Stephens.
But I believe you're a couple of years off in her tenure.

I just read your 2009 Live Mascot analysis. You are so wron. Mike the Tiger would destroy Bevo, Uga, or that stupid Buffalo. He is a jungle cat. Ferocious, deadly, intimidating and beautiful, How can you even compare him to any of those lame animals. Get real. Mike the Tiger is a wild animal living in the middle of a college campus. That scenario does not exist anywhere in the USA. Geaux Tigers!!!

You need to check out the Air Force Falcon--the falcons are raised and trained by the cadets themselves. They have a demonstration at half time at their stadium. The Air Force Mascot is the only mascot in NCAA Division one football that performs. Check it out for yourself!!!
