About

I was born and raised in New York City, and quickly fell in love with sports, especially baseball. After college, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, but I still follow my New York teams. I've worked in sports radio at WFUV 90.7 FM while in college, and have most recently worked in sports videogames. Oh, and did I mention ... sports. Yeahhhhh ...

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Ken Griffey, Jr., Frank Thomas, David Wright, Keith Hernandez, Patrick Ewing, Mark Messier, Michael Jordan (c'mon, he's Jordan), Lou Gehrig

  • Favorite Sports Teams

New York Mets, New York Giants, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks

  • Favorite Coaches

Davey Johnson, Tony La Russa, Casey Stengel, John Wooden (who else?)

  • All-Time Sports Moment

As a Mets fan, I have to go with Bill Buckner's Bobble - I'll have Bob Murphy's call of that play emblazoned on my brain forever.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

    1) Michael Jordan's 'double-nickel' game, when he dropped 55 on the Knicks at the Garden just a week after returning from his first retirement. Few remember that the game itself was memorable in its own right, coming down the the final play, a Jordan assist to win the game for Chicago. As a Knicks fan, I hated the Bulls, but even I couldn't deny enjoying the greatness that was Jordan. 1a) Game 4 of the 1999 NL Division Series between the Mets and D-Backs. Todd Pratt's walk-off home run, sending the Mets to the NLCS, set off the greatest stadium celebration I have ever had the honor of being a part of - Shea was literally rocking.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Cy Young's 749 complete games. What? It's not glamorous, but tell me it's not true.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth gets the credit for basically inventing the modern slugger, but Mays definitely refined the definition.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Again, Unitas was the protoype for what a star quarterback should be, but Montana was one of the best leaders ever.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Russell was the greatest champion of all time. But Jordan was Jordan. He's incomparable.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

See above response. Gretzky was Gretzky. And to clarify, Gretzky wasn't the Jordan of hockey, Jordan was (almost) the Gretzky of basketball.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele was the only person who was ever able to make soccer close to relevant in the US.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Sampras was the greatest serve-and-volley player of all-time, and at his peak, perhaps the best player on grass ever, but Federer's game is so refined, and Sampras' black mark at Roland Garros hurts him.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Until recently, Tiger was pretty much playing in his own world. We'll see where things go from here.

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

    Umm ... Atlantic 10? :o)

Regarding "Toughest 25 NFL Players", I can't believe you missed George Blanda.

You should work on your facts. And I quote from #3 "Bears' defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli likes to use the weapons he has at his disposal and bring a lot of pressure throughout the game. His exotic blitz packages wreaked havoc in the divisional round against Atlanta, and got Matt Ryan off his game early on."

Does anyone have video of the Bears-Falcons game?? I haven't seen it yet.
