Josh's Bio

Josh Nason has been covering sports since 1994 by writing, commentating and interviewing those who play the sports we love. After leaving the business for a few years, Nason found blogging in 2007, starting up Small White Ball.com and being the first sports blog to break the news on the ESPN Dana Jacobson story. Small White Ball mostly covers New England sports and media, but does hit all over the sports world.

He joined up with Bleacher Report in 2008 and as of March 2009, has achieved Columnist status.

Nason started another blog - Ropes Ring and Cage.com - that focuses strictly on MMA, wrestling and boxing. A mix of live results, opinions and news recaps, RRC is meant to give busy fans easy-to-digest bits of information and updates several times a week.

Nason has written extensively for Wrestling-Online.com and 411wrestling (now 411mania.com). He's also written for the Maine Campus, Bangor Daily News, Manchester (NH) Magazine and national MMA magazine FIGHT! Magazine beginning this past January.

Note: Due to time commitments, I cannot review or respond to every story link you post here on the board. However, feel free to include them and I'll do what I can to give them a look. Thanks!

Josh Writes About

The Short List What Josh thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

MMA fighters, Alexander Ovechkin, Josh Beckett, Kevin Garnett

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Kings

  • All Time Sports Moment

2004 ALCS - Red Sox finally beat the Yankees. Amazing and emotionally draining series of events!

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

2007 - Red Sox hit four consecutive home runs to beat the Yankees at Fenway

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Baseball: consecutive games played. No way this will ever be broken again.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Mays: the racial undertones of what he was doing, plus intensified media reaction made this infinitely tougher in my opinion.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana, simply because I don't know much about the Unitas era.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan by a hair...Russell was the ultimate winner, but Jordan became a global icon and the gold standard for what other athletes strive to be.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky. Even living in Greater Boston, Orr is more regional than national.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele because he had those awesome jerseys

  • Federer or Sampras?

    Do I have to pick?

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Tiger (falling asleep)

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    The American Moustache Society!

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    Don't care

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

    For what sport?

  3. Josh-- you work at FIGHT! magazine? I love that mag. What city are you in?

I'm working at Time Out New York magazine right now, and it's a lot of fun, but someday I want to work at a sports magazine...or a magazine all about beer. Best of luck to you, I know you're probably busy, but it would be cool to get some tips from you, since you're already working at a great MMA mag.

    Thanks,

  13. Hey Josh,

People of my generation look at them fondly as the players they watched as little kids, people of other generations may just look at them as great players. I created a slide show highlighting the best players of the 1990's. If you get a chance, take a look, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
