The only question that needs to be answered is are the Yankees better off with Vernon Wells and the answer is a resounding yes, He'll give definite stability to what was a chaotic situation where the Yankee defense would have been horribly makeshift and their offense would have been dead. Wells gives you potentially the big bat in the middle of the order that gives the offense fluidity.
