I'm a longtime fan of the New York Giants, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, Boston Celtics and men's basketball at Providence College and the University of Rhode Island.
I like soccer played at a high level, but profess no particular fanship other than to the U.S. men's and women's teams in international competition.
I was a sports reporter for several daily newspapers and covered high school, college and pro action. My most recent stint was a decade ago.
I've played all major sports and many minor ones at one time or other. My best sports were soccer and ice hockey.

Favorite Sports Teams

New York Giants, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, Boston Celtics, Providence College and University of Rhode Island men's basketball teams. U.S. men's and women's soccer teams in international competition.
All Time Sports Moment

On TV: Watching my New York Football Giants beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII; close second -- U.S. hockey team gold medal win in 1980. In person: Watching Bobby Orr at the Boston Garden.
Most Memorable Game Attended

Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers in a regular season game back in the day.
Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Cal Ripken's consecutive games-played record.
Ruth or Mays?

Mays in a landslide.
Unitas or Montana?

Montana six ways to Sunday, but on film Unitas in the high-topper shoes.
Pele or Maradona?

Pele by a mile or at least by several soccer fields.
ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

Big East for numerous reasons including motto: It's not business, it's personal.
