About

I'm a 21 year old journalism student attending Chico State, and graduating in spring of 2011. After studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic, this fall, I'm assuming the role of sports editor for "The Orion" newspaper for the spring semester. I've had two journalism internships -- as an editorial intern for the "Chico News & Review" in summer 2010 and as the publications intern for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in summer 2009. My favorite teams are Arizona Wildcats men's basketball, the Boston Red Sox, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. In my free time, I like to play basketball, play my electric guitar, hike and backpack, and travel the world... when possible.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester, Kobe Bryant, Patrick Willis

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Arizona Wildcats men's basketball, San Francisco 49ers, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Lakers

  • Favorite Coaches

Lute Olson, Terry Francona, Phil Jackson, Bill Cowher, Bill Walsh

  • All-Time Sports Moment

The Red Sox defeating the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Red Sox v. A's in Game 5 of the 2003 ALCS in Oakland. I had seen Pedro pitch game one in Oakland, and he threw a gem in Game 5 as well as Manny and Jason Varitek hit homers to help the Sox win 4-3. Amazing party with travelling Red Sox fans above the dugout afterwards.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Cy Young's 511 wins record for Major League Baseball.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth - Mays was a better five tool player but Ruth was a hell of a pitcher before he was the game's premiere slugger.

  • Unitas or Montana?

I'm biased here, but I prefer Montana, and think he's the most clutch quarterback in the history of the league. The anti-Favre, if you will. And you can't argue with four rings.

  • Jordan or Russell?

I'll always take Russell over Wilt, but MJ is the best to ever play the game, and only Russell's rings surpass him as a player. Look at Kobe Bryant's career stats, and how vastly impressive they are -- and then look at Jordan's and see how he's not even close.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    The great one. Period.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele was the great footwork maestro of football, and in my opinion he remains so. Maradona, while a fantastic player, lays claim to the "Hand of God" cheap goal. Pele brought the first attempted wave of soccer fanatacism to our mostly apathetic country.

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

Pac-10. Born and raised in the Central Valley of California and my mom went to the U. of A. Easy.
