The Tour De France Just Got Very Interesting
07/11/2009
More of a boxing and soccer enthusiast than anything else. However, will write on just about anything that pops into my head.
A hardcore Liverpool fan and am giddy about the Reds chances for a Premiership title for the first time since 1990. Favorite fighter is currently Joe Calzaghe.
I'm on Bleacher Report because I love sports and I love to write. I find many of the articles to be insightful and interesting and am pleasantly surprised at the relative lack of 'mean spiritedness' on the site.

As an addendum to the comment on your article about MMA, I suggest that you look beyond UFC and Strikeforce to gain broader appreciation of the sports. Though the US is undoubtedly the biggest MMA nation now, until a few years ago, Japan was the MMA mecca.
Japan has been home to now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championship (the largest MMA organization in the world before it was bought up by Zuffa, the parent company of UFC), and currently, DREAM and Sengoku, in addition to other pioneering MMA promotions like Shooto and Pancrase. If you ever become acquainted with Japanese MMA, you will notice that MMA is marketed very differently in Japan than it is here in the US - a little more lighthearted, with emphasis on entertainment but manages to tout the honor and athleticism of MMA.
Cheers.

Hi Joe
Thanks for the comments. I was looking at details of some fatalities in the ring when the
Margarito scandal blew up. I was as stunned and as pleased as most to see Sugar as the new no1 Welter.
The fight that everyone here (in the UK) is looking forward to with much interest is the weird match-up between Amir "the kid" Khan, coming off a masive knock-out loss (and a non event "win") and the baby faced assassin, himself coming off two bad losses (and a non event in China).
Why would Roach take on el asasino with his kid if he didn't think he'd win? Oddly It has faint overtones of pacman v goldenboy in reverse (sizewise/agewise)... can an aging Barera take his power up 5lbs, is he too old at 35yrs? Khan is very big, hits v.hard and is very offence minded... but has a champagne flute chin.
How do you think it will go? We should be going for youth, but personally, I don't think Khan needed to fight the old fox and may regret it.
Regards, Nick
